Bubbleponics 1st time grow

1st time grower. Doing it the Bubbleponics way. Northern Lights seed.

Added 2 extra 12" long airstones, also using the 4" round one that came with the system.
Grow room is a 4l x 5w x 8h closet.
Mylar on walls and ceiling.
400 watt MH for grow and HPS for flower.
Small fan and a Vicks humidifier.

Used paper towel system to germ, when tap root got to 1\4 to 1\2" placed in rockwool. Didn't seem to matter to the seeds if they went into rockwool root up or down or sideways, they all sprouted ok in same amount of time.
Placed the baby’s in BP system, after a few days of hatching under fluorescent shop late in a domed seeding container.

Used one layer of hydroton, placed rockwool'd baby’s on top, put feed tube up against rockwool and then surrounded the rockwool cubes with more hydroton and one layer on top of rockwool.
As seen in pics, covered system top with white cardboard.

6 gallons of bottled spring water in system.
No ferts yet,
PH 5.6
PPM 55 seems ok for baby’s of this size with no ferts
EC 107 Not sure about this

I can get distilled water that has EC of 2.0, or the spring water that is 110 range. I am somewhat confused as to where the EC range needs to be but am somewhat confident of where the PH and PPM range should be.
By next week I will be using a reverse osmosis system for water.

I am having a heat problem in the closet.
I have installed a 4" inline duct fan for exhaust in the ceiling, venting into attic. May have to go bigger, 6" maybe? No exhaust fan for the light, and not going to get one either, the heat just rises to the ceiling. No fresh air vent, just what comes under the door.
If I close the door it gets to 92 or 93. With door open all the way it is about 84. With the central air running at a steady 74○ That 400 MH is putting out a ton of heat. The ballast is outside of the closet.
I guess I can just leave the door open. I have covered the bedroom window so that no light leaks through to be seen outside at night, so I’ll probably be ok heat wise. But with closet door open it kinda defeats the "stealth" mode. Might all well just use the whole bedroom.

Oh and, my res temps is high also at 85○. Not sure how to cool this down. Need help on how to do this.

Pics below, sorry they are so blurry, My hand is none to steady. :bigjoint:

lots of pics on pages 99 to 15, somewhere in there too.

You've got to get the tank water temp down, asap, to closer to 74 to 78. Do you have the submersive pump moving the water around thru the tubes? Moving water is cooler, it must be your lights are close. You might try reflecting the heat upward, I don't know really what to tell you to try, that is why I use CFLs. But that water temp is too high.

Early Vegging 300 to 400

Full Vegetation 450 to 700

Early Blooming 750 to 950

Full Mature Blooms 1000 to 1600

Note: EC Calculations are different, here's a conversion chart :
heres a great chart that shows how different PPM can be from meter to meter... EC is the only real universal language...

Roseman, you are the man!
Yeah, during the lights off last nite the res temp dropped to 77○.
I have it set to the 18\6 cycle. And the light is 24" above the plants, and yes the drip tubes are connected.
I think maybe the res temp will drop more after awhile as I had the air cond vent shut off to that spare bedroom for months and the bottled water was stored in that room.
I got to go to work now and will add the 1\4 nutes tonite.
Also I have thoroughly read your entire postings, and the posts of others before starting my grow.
Know anything about the EC of the water as noted above or should I even worry about EC? Seems easy enough to controll the PH and PPM.

I have a truecheon meter and I don't worrya bout the EC, just the pH , ppm and temps.

Yeah, I had to go with bottled water untill I get my reverse osmosis system up, as my tap water is:
EC 804
PPM 400
PH 8.0
Thats outrageous! I'm glad I bought the meters for my grow or I would never have known how much crap I was drinking and cooking in. And this is city water.

gotta get that temp down. depending on the strand but usually anything over 85 F growth slows tremendously

Res temp is down to 77○ now. Ambient air temp also at 77○. I added the last 2 of the seedlings to the SH system tonite. Got 5 of the 6 slots filled. The 6th seed didn't sprout.
I added 1\4 packet of the Micro and Grow to the system tonite also.
PH now at 5.7
PPM now at 356 This went up a little more than I would have expected for 1\4 strength.
New pics below. :joint:

It only took 2 days for a root from the 1st 3 seedlings to drop an inch below the net pot! That seems pretty fast, and that was with no nut's.

Ok, it's 3 days now since startup. Plants growing slightly taller.
The first 3 plants placed in the system have a 3 inch long root just starting to touch in the res water. The 2nd two after 2 days still not showing a root past the net pot.
Added a gallon of water tonite.
EC at 497
PPM at 298
PH rose a little to 6.0
Water temp at 77○ as is the ambient air temp.
More pics below, I think one of them has slightly yellowing tips on the leaves, not sure tho as it may just be the way the MH light shines on it. It's the middle one in the 2nd picture.

4 days into grow, plants progressing nicely.
The back 3 now have 4" root, well into the res water, the front 2 still show no root thru the net pot.
EC at 580
PPM at 300
PH at 6.0
Res temp rose to 81○, after being steady at 77.5○ for several days. Turning fan to high in attempt to lower res temp.
Still at 1\4 nut pack of micro and grow.
Starting to get concerned about the middle plant in the back row as the leaf tip yellowing is getting worse.
I am open to suggestions if anyone has any comments.
Remember I am a 1st time hydro grower and am really unsure about how much nutrients to add at this point. I am hesitant to add more nuts, thinking that nut burn causes yellowing leaf tips.
Please remember this is a Bubbleponics system and comes with pre-measured powered nutrient packages.

looking good man just make sure that the light isn't shining through that one netpot with less rocks because light in reservoire=bad news.
