Bubble bowls

Is anyone aware of a less expensive set of bubble bowls out there? My main reason for wanting them is to use a shop vac to suck water through the 30 micron screen like in this video.


I use the bubble now machine and currently have a bucket tower to suspend my bags but I'm ALWAYS waiting on my 25 micron bag. I would just go to the 45 micron but I usually get a decent amount in the 25 and I don't want to waste.

Anyway I know $180 isn't a lot but like the bags it's not always the brand but the technique of the artist.

Also if anyone has experience with them I'm curious if the vacuum is necessary, my 45 bag drains quick enough, but the 25 is drip drip drip.......

They are just marked up strainers. They range in microns from 25 up to 600 (clearly an overkill) but they work well. I have one 25micron one.

Does the 25 bucket drain better than the bag? Or is it similar?

Either way I'm looking forward to trying the shop vac method so I can start being more time productive. I've been doing two 2 minute washes, two 5 minute washes, and two 10 minute washes on a bag of trim in my bubble now machine. The last two runs are always a bit green and definitely smaller yield so I stop there. I do runs 1 and 2 and then pull my bags to collect. Then runs 3 and 4, etc. The whole process takes 3-4 hours currently because the damn 25 micron bag is slow even when I shake it because I try to rinse a lot in the bag.

Any tips?

I would say it drains similar but I also don't do huge runs so I never really had a problem :-/

It is def a bit easier to pick up/gather at times compared to a bag. But once you get the technique down both are easy to gather.

As for as the 25 micron bag taking a bit of time to drain, I know people like bubbleman and john b do this technique which drains the bag rather fast.


If you forward to 35:30, you see how he is doing that up and down motion draining the bag? That helps a lot I noticed. He's even done it with 20gallon bags and drain the bag rather fast for it's size.

Nice link. I've been familiar with shaking the bags for a while. The vacuum setup is gonna speed things up nicely.

For the last few years I've just thrown my material away at the end but I've read some people are using that to make butter or infuse in coconut oil. Is that worth it? I assume that I'd be wondering if my cookies were bunk, lol. Does anyone do that here or just throw it away like I have been?

Ya the vacuum assistance should def help you drain the water faster. Should be good, make sure to post the results!

I too heard of people making edibles with the remaining material once washed. It really depends on how much you worked the material i think. I do believe there is still medicine left in the material so worth a try.

Wow I wish I'd have thought about that back when I was doing bubble! The only way I knew to speed it up was using gravity by dropping and raising while massaging the bottom with my fingers. Shit was so damn cold!

Why can't you use the shop vac with your 25 bag? Thinking maybe need to drill your hole lower so not to suck the bag in.

I was thinking the same thing but for like $46 I bought the 25, 75, 100, and 200 micron bowls on Amazon. Thank you war machine for the link above!

I have only been using my 220, 120, 73, and 25 the last six months or year so them screen sizes should work just fine.

The bag would probably block the vacuum suction and I don't want to suck up water by having the hose too low.

All I know is seeing that water just flow through instantly in that video made me excited about ice water again!

Just got the 25 micron in the mail.

I see why it's so cheap! It's like milk jug plastic and there's a little dip around the edge for trichs to collect that will be tricky to scoop from because it dips down. Kinda like the rim of a subwoofer.

And I think when I get the other ones I'm gonna find out the screens will touch each other because it's flimsy plastic.

Moral of the story so far.......probably just spring for the bubble bowls right away.

But I will still do a run with the cheap ones and post pictures and results. Hopefully by the end of the weekend.

Sorry to hear about the quality, I only bought 1 bowl (the 25 micro) and it worked well for my work. But I can see where you are coming from for sure :-/
