I finally got a ph, moisture, and light meter. Its a cheap one, nothing special! but still lets me know somethin....but, one of my plants are browning and drying out very badly, awkwardly enough its just the bottom 2 sets of leafs. the top is ok. the ph level is around 7.0-7.3, moisture is moist (just watered recently). None of my other ones are experiencing this, and i have done the same thing with all the plants, nothing very different. any advise?

no, just expert potting soil. the only thing hydro is the distilled water, and the little bit of nutrients i give them.

not sure what you mean? the ph of the water should be 6.5 before i water? and how can i bring it down or up in ph?

yeah, i can do a better job of that cause of the meter. just fed two of them cause they were dry. hopefully i get this ph thing solved soon, cause the yeild on that one is looking pretty bland

Sounds like Chem Burn (I just went through this with my girls), what are your PPM Levels? also 7.0 for PH? I suggest 5.5 - 6.3. Are some of the stems of your water leafs purpleish? I'm guesing they are? **Also if you are using Tap Water the Flouride and Chlorine are toxic to your plants, those two right there will most def cause browning. If so flush your res and use only RO water when you refill. You should have some PH Down & PH Up on hand if your growing Hydro, you can usually pick up a combo pack with both for cheap. did you upload any pics? GOOD LUCK WITH THE GROW!!

Honestjim, i will check it out thanks!, and kingkushkush..im still a nub, so i dont know what PPM stands for..hahahaha, but, i can tell you that you are correct! my stems are purplish. But i am using distilled water, room temp. and im going the soil route, but on that note, is there certain kind of up and down formula for soil? also having trouble putting pics up...and thanks for the info!
