yeah, ive broken like 16 of em(literally) ranging from 13w-42w and never had no problems......paranoid, their is hardly any mercury in them now ive cut myself on fresh broken cfls covered in the white powder and it was in the cuts more than a few times......these guys are paramoid about mercury lol

Yea I bet it does fuck you up. Like your brain not being able to recieve oxygen fucked up. Yea if you cut your wrist with a 42 watter that was on 2 seconds ago i'd be paranoid.

IF you break a CFL [FONT=verdana, arial,

IF YOU BREAK A BULB...
1) Open a window before cleaning up, and turn off any forced-air heating or air conditioning.

2) Instead of sweeping or vacuuming, which can spread the mercury around, scoop up the glass fragments and powder. Use sticky tape to pick up remaining glass fragments or powder. Wipe the area clean with a damp paper towel or wet wipes.

3) Dispose of the broken bulb through your local household hazardous waste program or recycling program. If that service is unavailable in your area, place all clean-up materials in a trash container outside the building.

4) Wash your hands after cleaning up.

5) If vacuuming is needed afterwards, when all visible materials have been removed, vacuum the area and dispose of the vacuum bag in a sealed plastic bag. For the next few times you vacuum, turn off any forced-air heating or air conditioning and open a window before doing so.

seems the risk is pretty small, that or the smokers minds are gone to the point they don't what's up anymore
:) seriously, if you're worried, make oil
mercury metal won't dissolve in ethanol, and would remain behind with the vegetative material

Mate i dont no but i would say use co2 for a week or that just get fizzy water spray on plants maybe 2 times a day for a week. This seems to clean them off very well! But only 1 or 2 sprayes at a time mate...

after 15 mins your safe to breathe and the plants will be fine too.

I had the same thing happen, my scissors fell during the night and smashed a CFL sidelight and chopped a crappy mercury thermometer in half... i had 2 mercury containing things break in one go and all was fine.
