i like the idea only my question is after the water gets to ur plants how does it drain out in the res, u cant have it tilted both ways u know and if its flat water will just sit

just like any other ebb and flow system when the pump turns off it goes back through the pump and back into the res.. whatever minisucle amount is left will quickly be sucked up by the roots

Sound idea the only thing i would worry about is the roots blocking the system, i like the light mover idea too, how about a longer system (more plants) with a mover pushing/pulling the light horizontally? You could pull the plants closer to the lights. It would be very efficient. Man there is so much you can do, just light 1 up and use a bit of imagination!

just wanted to add in another concept.

this is a stadium style ebb and flow..

the system shown would be best for a lolipop style flowered from clone especially if you offset the plant sites like seen from the top (left side is better)

this way you could have 4 tiers easily, or if you wanted to grow larger plants you could just do 2 or 3.

what yall stinkin?

What ever happened to keeping it Simple. Especially with growing.

Im not saying vertical is a bad idea, but I think what we should focus on is the most Simple, and Efficient vert style grow that can use Max light from a single bulb.

It seems to me that when you start using multiple bulbs in vert you start losing the efficiency.

I guess the real question is, are you trying to make max use of space, OR are you trying to get as much bud per bulb as possible?

i agree with keeping it simple to an extent.. i will bust my balls for an extra .1 gpw and build crazy contraptions LOL.. only gotta build it once

The problem with the crazy contraptions are they still have to obey the laws of physics. Your never gonna get something for nothing, Once you hit max efficiency for the bulb your just not gonna get any more herb out of it.

These things always seem to make more sense on paper, once you start laying shit out you realize what the limits are.

Some of the highest yielding crops I have seen were monster plants, vegged and flowered under 1k lights and achieving over 1.5 gpw

Iv always been intrigued by vert style grows. Im thinking if you had unlimited space....and your just trying to maximize gram/watt the best solution would be an octagon around a single bulb. Maybe 2 levels, and a single bulb that goes up and down. That way all sides of the bulb are always being used.

heath robinson had a grow where he did some monsters under 1800w and got like 5lbs or somethin i liked it he had big big plants but did the vert.. i have thought about replicating it as well.. just depends on what my next space is lookin like

I lost the pic of the giant 1lb bud, that thing was amazing, it was bigger then my head.

This stalk says it all

yo BC, check this guys super simple stadium.

https://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-design-setup/44253-northern-farmer-stadium-grow-vertical.html

if you read all of it(yeah, its alot!) you find out this guy operates two rooms side by side, ballasts run 24hrs and a box switched power from the two rooms every 12hrs. AND he says he does this in like 5 houses....

MY HERO!!!!!

anyways back on topic.. who thinks this setup would NOT yield more than a typical hooded 3x3? I am quite curious
OK - I am jumping in from this quote - not sure of somebody else touched on this point, though. Technically, I don't think this is a vertical grow. You have one level of plants with the light mounted above. I think you could take what you have and add three more levels mounted 6 to 8 inches above one another with the net cups staggered horizontally. The plants will grow in and up with the tops overlapping the stems on the row above. Four levels would give you four layers of plants covering the four inside walls - 64 plants total. I think the hardest part will be positioning the light - maybe between the third and fourth levels.

Just some thoughts - not looking to criticize.

im glad to get some feedback thats what this forum is all about!

and i have thought about doing multiple levels but this was just to show what it looks like etc..

but it is a vertical, the pic may not show it to well but the light is meant to hang in the middle of all the plants, not above it. i cant remember where but a guy did something similar but in soil, vegged em to about a foot and was pulling an lb off of a 400w hps.

Looking through some old pics and I found that 1lb bud from Health Robinsons first Critical Mass Tree project.

I figured this bud is Definitely worth posting. Its buds like this that inspire me to be a better grower. :leaf:
