Thanx, but credit also goes to those with experience who were willing to share. Lots of good folks here. I do wish there was more science, and less anecdotal bullshit, but incremental progress is what keeps the ratchet going.
Yup, the efficiency is amazing, and it's only going to get better.
Yeah, and you're putting out quality photons, too. I'm not to the point of wanting to have sex with my lights yet, but I am in love with them. :)
Great job on the lights mate. Can I ask you what heights do you hang the lights in veg and then again in bloom? Also do you run the lights at full power for the full cycle? cheers

Thanx, Kid.

I haven't had these lights until halfway into bloom in my last grow, so no experience with veg yet. That said, while I ended harvest with the lights about 10 cm from the top of the canopy, these things will burn plants at 30 cm if they're not hardened off (yes, experience speaking) so I'll probably start veg at 60 cm and lower them down incrementally to 10.

I'm planning to dial the drivers down to 50% during veg, as long as the girls do well, and dial them up to max starting at 12/12.

I've got my beast over seedlings. About 30cm away to start with, after 10 days since germination im at about 20cm with no i'll effects ;) Pulled the Lux meter out and am keeping them at around 30,000 lux.... there was a couple of hours where I had it at 40,000 lux and one of the seedlings got the shits with me, put it back up and sweet as :D

Very cool. Did we ever see pics of your assembled EB bad boys?

Its an old 4 bulb T5 fixture that I utilised :)

Oh and of course some little babies soaking up them photons... Jillybean, GG4 x Querkle, Double Affie, Brazil Amazonia, Brother Grimm C99 and some BDSM auto's ;) Currently buying up my parts for the flower tent... its a 4 x 3 and will have 12 x 4ft strips running at 1050ma ;)

Can't wait for your build it is same size grow area I want to build a light for. Thanks again GG for documenting your build which has obviously inspired so many others to follow suit..... cheers

There are optics around. I have seen 286mm lengths of them that you'd simply use 2 or 4 of for the 560 and 1120mm strips. There's one seen HERE If you're light is in a tent then I wouldn't waste your time.

+1 on the lack of need for the reflectors. I think if anything I'd consider putting them just on the outside 1 or 2 strips, but like Dan says, with reflective walls even that probably won't gain you much.

Assuming he's running these around 45v he should be getting 45-50w / sqft, which should be right in the sweet spot without CO2. Is my math off?

Is this for 6 or 12 strips? Uh oh, am I building a light not worth shit now? Or what if I use 24 x 560mm strips? (its what I originally wanted to do, to make it easy to break down and transport) (Plus, having 1120mm strips sent to Australia, could spell broken strips, sorta still leaning towards the 560mm's)

Ok.... So what would be good for a 4 x 3?

@graying.geek you have 8 strips in a 4 x 2 dont ya?

Sorry I must have misjudged. EB's at 1050ma run about 50w per strip. 12 strips will be 600w. I guess you're using 2 of the 320H-C1050A/B driver or did you find something else? 12 strips at 1050ma in 12sqft is 50w per sqft.

Heads up for anyone yet to build. The thermal tape did not hold. The end of one of the strips was hanging a couple inches when I went in there yesterday so I have put 2 self tappers into each 560mm strip.

It was 3M double sided tape. Should have just put the screws in to begin with really and not been lazy.

Correct. My 8 are give me about 50W/sqft running at 47V and 1050mA (47V x 1.05 A). Per your earlier post, if you have 12 x 1120 mm running similarly (I don't recall which driver you're using) you should be getting close to 600 W, which would be perfect for flower (assuming you're running 4000 CCT or less), and yes, 24 of the 560 mm would be equivalent.

That's good to know. I'll be sure to add 3 or 4 screws over the strip to go along with the thermal tape.

Im still not settled on the drivers yet and really only want to pull around 400w max, so might settle for some 240's or even 185's.... Maybe thinking of using 2 x CV drivers even (2 x HLG-240H-24B), as im not electrician and want to keep things a bit safer for myself. Or would I be better off running CC in the long run or for any other reason?

Yep cool thats what I thought. And my space having that extra foot calls for another 4 strips imo... I may start with 10 and see how it goes.

orrrr am i totally loosing it and should be going with 6 cobs? my goal is to run a low heat fixture in the end.... would 6 cobs put off more heat than 10-12 of these babies?

cool :) now... just gotta decide on drivers....

and... if i get the 560mm strips, they will run at about 22v right...? will i still get close to 50w/sqft running less voltage than the big strips? (basically i want 2, 2x3 fixtures with 10-12 strips each so it can be broken into 2 for transport)
