Bridgelux EB Series Build

No idea on bin info, but it is $38USD cheaper than the cost of a QB once cost of shipping to canada is included. Even if the higher bin is a 6% difference (which is the max threashold from what ive read per HLGs own numbers) its still an equal cost/performance at worst.

Well to be fair someone was trying to help and you jumped on him with a bad attitude. Cmon guys positive vibes.
Really? if it came accross that way i dont know what to say. Where did it seem to both of you guys that i had a bad attitude cause i just dont see it and am honestly confused how i gave that perception. I thought i was constantly gushing thanks like an excited schoolgirl.

Snippy? no how was it snippy? if it seemed that way it wasnt. He presented 4 different drivers that would work but at the same time says hes trying to figure out drivers too. When someone qualifies an answer with "i think it might be" it leads to a lack of confidence in the answer.

A simple "yah id agree with that" was all i was asking for. I think ive gone out of my way repeatedly to thank people when asking advice. Especially you nogood, youve helped me alot.

How is askign to verify from someone with more experience than both of us if we are spending our money in the right way me being snippy?
I didn't say "I think It might be" about anything. I did my research and presented another option for your configuration as well as options for other strip # combinations. For the benefit of others considering builds using these strips. So that this thread might not get hijacked by a single poster focused only on his own self. Because it seems that's how folks roll here. Give a little, take a little. Don't take it wrong, but this isn't a customer support chat. Don't treat it like one, bring something to the table.

Yep and on anything i actually have a knowledge base in ill gladly help anyone, which isnt lighting. Want me to link a totally different thread where i went out of my way explaining negative air pressure as a means to contain smell? because i know alot about that stuff as i make my living doing hazardous waste remediation particularly with asbestos where if you let any air escape unfiltered it can kill you. I'll go out of my way, and did explaining how to calculate the airflow you need to prevent smells from escaping a contained room. Im not about to give advice on something i dont know shit about though.
https://www.rollitup.org/t/does-a-carbon-filter-remove-100-smell.297875/page-3#post-13494324
just to dispell the idea that all i do is take around here.
A second thread where i encouraged someone to just change out carbon rather than spend a whole bunch of $ on buying another phresh filter.
https://www.rollitup.org/t/fix-bent-carbon-filter-think-crucial-10x40-carbon-air-filter.939059/#post-13490087

Do i need to keep providing more and more links before you realize i do help ppl around here, just not with LED lighting because i dont know squat about it?
And in my defense baud, it was your 3rd post ever on this site. Its far from a 1 way street of me just taking and not giving.

Done, you wont see me post again ever around here, have a nice day.

Edit: oh and if any of you guys feel like building a filter system as good as any premade filter like phresh for less than 1/4 the cost, dont hestitate to ask.

Arrow min. order is 240pcs currently.
If you take 25+ digikey pricing comes also down to at least 10$ so not a big difference here + they are available in less than 240pcs.
Hope arrow starts to sell smaller numbers as they do with the M series and others.

Guess i was lucky i ordered 16 yesterday and got shipping confirmation. It was a mistake by arrow then

Nope, I'm wrong.
Missed a lot of posts because my browser has not updated again, lol!
These were the prices and availabillity last week when I was looking for HUS strips last.
At the current price they are unbeatable!
Will order 25 before the price rises again!

Too bad I just bought 8 more eb strips a couple weeks ago Doh!

My qb build cost me 431 total shipped
Four boards four heatsinks and a 320watt driver
I discovered the eb strips after and had I known about the strips prior I may have went that route and had a little bit more light but not quite as efficient
If start up costs are an issue I think eb strips>qb
I'm not mad either way
My clone/veg eb setup cost less than 100 for 90 watts

The QB's are the hottest thing going so if you have them in hand I would not sweat the H series strips.

If, however, youre setting your alarm and smashing the refresh button like youre trying to score Stones tickets and striking out....there are alternatives to fighting the thundering horde.

If you are able to score that new arrow pricing IMO samsung H > eb strips.

Mind me asking what you went with for your veg light?

Clones and mom will be under 10 one foot eb strips 4000k with Hlg80-350a driver
My actual veg chamber is one 4000k qb304 and the flower chamber is the 4 qb288
I'll get some pics up soon when I get some time to clean up my grow area and snap some
Cool, that makes me feel better because what you're describing is almost exactly the plan i had in my head but instead of QB's samsung h series strips with flower being 16 2foot strips. Im so happy to retire my hps lighting for flower and get a proper veg light.

Once again thanks for sharing your info.

Thinking about the Samsung H strips a bit more I realized that the better practice would be to wire them in parallel, since the strips themselves are wired in series. Basically, we're building a big COB, with each strip acting as one of the COB's diode strings. So that changes the driver options. (And makes my earlier post moot, please disregard as I can't seem to edit it.)

For the 2 ft/560mm strips (H562), driven at 480 mA at 24vdc, here's what I came up with from Mean Well:

16 strips:
HLG-185H-24

12-13 strips:
HLG-150H-24

10-11 strips:
HLG-120H-24

8 strips:
HLG-100H-24
CLG-100-24
PLN-100-24

7-8 strips:
HLG-80H-24
HLN-80H-24

5-6 strips:
HLG-60H-24
HLN-60H-24
CLG-60-24
PLN-60-24

3-4 strips:
HLG-40H-24
HLN-40H-24

3 strips:
PLN-30-24

As always welcome the group's feedback, always learning...

Why only 480?

Why only 480?
That's what the 560mm strips are rated for. 960 mA for the 1120mm/ 4 ft strips. The 2-footers are 12 watt boards.

See the data sheet or below. 1050 mA will smoke those strips without some clever circuit design by folks who like their learnin' and such....

Anyone else notice that the efficacy continues to rise through to the maximum voltage? Different than COBs with their mid-current sweet spots.

As a rule of thumb, most LEDs reach the sweet spot in the output VS lifespan curve at about 50% of the max rated current. You need to look at the datasheet, for the curve. Also, check it to see what the light output at this current is.

Many people in the planted aquarium hobby use programmed lighting and will only use maximum brightness for an hour or 2 to imitate daylight and reduce algae, but I think it could give a nice boost to the plants while extending lifespan of the led if you incorporate this. The easiest analogue way would be to use 2 drivers connected to a relay on a mechanical timer that switches on for the bright period flipping the relay to the other driver. This timer is plugged into a second timer that controls the on and off control of the light period overall, i.e. 14/10 12/12 or whatever

Hello everyone, I am probably noob and I about to say something very stupid, but why not to consider samsung f-series gen3 instead of h-series?Based on spech, 560mm model are 23v and 1.12A, for 168lm/watt in 3000k....so 26watt for $10.78 (25 or more pieces).Almost twice wattage for same price, with only 10lm/watt less efficiency( around 5.5%, but if you drive at 20watt each, probably efficiecy is the same and you are getting 66% more wattage dissipation).
Am I stupid or wrong?
