ok so i im doin an outdoor grow and i was thinking im going to have some males right? so would it be worth it to bread a male with a female, i don't really get the whole breading thing is it like you stick a male with a female and you get seeds? how many seeds would I get?

no!!! females produce the bud and males produce the seeds. if u leave the male with the female then the female will not prdce bud and will only produce seeds. if u see any males, cut them down. females will make the bud, not the males. The whole male plant will produce seeds, the number of them depends on the size of your plant.

i dont want to sound like a smartass or anything, but it sounds like you need to do alot of reading before you start a grow outdoors. Males is like #1 rule not to have unless your trying to cross strains. If thats the case, and correct me if I'm wrong, then say you had a blueberry female and a haze male. You left both in one room during flowering, the male would pollinate with the blueberry and stop creating buds and start creating seeds. Thus creating seeds Xed with BlueberryXhaze

Males produce and release pollen. If pollen reaches a female she will become fertilized and then produce seed. Seedless (sensimillia) bud is vastly preferable to bud with seeds.

If you want seeds you don't have to fertilize a whole plant. There is an excellent thread on this website about a method for harvesting pollen. You can just take a cutting from a male plant and bring it to flower under a cfl far away from the females. Use the pollen on just some select bud-sites on a single female plant. If you're careful enough, only those buds will seed.

Pollen travels. After you take cuttings for pollen harvesting, you should destroy the remaining males to prevent widespread fertilization and the ruin of your crop.

Very good post and heads up. Will definitely have to try that later on when I get more going and have some to spare. +rep If you can forward that thread to me, it'd be much appreciated!

Ok, that guy who posted second, like serious, i laughed my ass off, seriously, the male makes seeds, if u put the male with female ur buds go n only get seeds...haha, oh god, i tink ya need to chill on da smoke for awhile haha

guys calm the fuck down, I meant put them in a seperate site, all I want is to get seeds for future grows, so if I put a male w/ a female far away from the other ladies what will happen, or do I only need a male for seeds?

if u put the male with the female the female will make bud mixed with seeds (thanks 4 the heads up jizzle lol) u dont need to do that tho, if u leave the male plant away from the females youll get enough seeds from that just one male plant

Yea that was funny.

just a male, you will get anough seeds from one male, u can do both male and female..but u will get seeds stuck in the bud and you will have to crumble the bud to get to the seeds, you will be good with just secluding the male plant. Hope all goes well!

This thread is bizarre. If my earlier post, quoted above, does not help you, I'm afraid I can't help you at all.

A female plant makes seeds only when it is pollinated. Pollen comes from male plants. Unless there are hermies involved that's the ONLY way seeds are produced.

Strangely enough, males by themselves DO NOT make seeds.

The problem is that pollen can travel hundreds of yards or more, depending on conditions. So it is best to keep any males (or cuttings) only in a tightly controlled environment. Otherwise they should be eliminated completely.
