Brazil Amazonia, almost 10wks milky, waiting on amber...

The Seedbank says it takes 8wks and can go upto 10wks without degradation. My other 2 plants I harvested at 7 and 8 wks and they were pretty much all milky. This one is the only one I figured I'd shoot for amber crystals on, but it's taking forever.

I think the slowness has to do with the plant being 2x+ bigger than the other two, and getting the sativa pheno, even though seedbank says 70% indica.

Here are the scope pics (took my phone cam up to my 420 scope lol):

Here's the plant pics, it's a supercloset minifile with a 200w feliz horticultural 10k lumen cfl.

The tops are maybe 6" or less from the bulb. My temps been up to 86F/42% around daytime, and dropping to about 76F/62% during the night. I know it's root bound, and I'm noticing it taking about 3 waterings a day. The pot is only 4" i know it's small. Using Technaflora recipe for success at 100% strength with feed-water-water to feed-water-feed schedule since it's rootbound.

Any idea how much time left? I'd like to see a week or 2 but hopefully not much longer. I have an even smaller box holding my clones/seedlings and they're starting to get cramped.

BTW: This is for my wife's herniated disc pain, so i'm looking for 50-75%+ amber trichs...The pain is BAD!

i thought the more milky the higher thc???
yea but amber = higher cbd which is better for pain than thc. Believe me, i want to chop it now but my wife would kill me, lol.

Also to mention, even though it looks sativa it's mostly indica, so i'm hoping it will give cbd. I mean the seedbank says the natives of the amazon get their birthing women stoned to help with the pain of childbirth...i was thinking if it's good enough for childbirth then it's good enough for back pain.

o okay so the medical strains are better with 70% amber instead of the 30% for higher thc???
and yea i would think so if it can help with childbirth lol

Amber debate aside, you can tell by looking at the buds that it is not ripe. 2 weeks to go, perhaps more.

I take it that it's because the hairs are about 50% white and 50% orange, and i probably need closer to 95% orange hairs? I saw a review somewhere with pics of dried buds, and all the hairs are orange. Also the smell isn't very complex either...it has a slight citrus smell with a slight hay smell and something else I can't quite describe.

I'm looking at the color of the hairs, the fact that they are spikey and erect (heh heh) and not curled up and receding, the plumpness of the buds and the appearance (or lack thereof) of fat calyxes. That's the best I can describe it, ripe buds just look... ripe. Trichome color cannot be overlooked either but is just another thing to include in your evaluation.

Wow, thank you wbd, that really goes beyond anything I've read online. I had no idea about the other signs like curling up and receding and fat calyxes. I knew there had to be a few other things to look for. Maybe i haven't been looking up ripeness enough as I should have.

So, Here I am about a week later. I've decided to start my "flushing". It's not what most people around here talk about.

I'm using the technaflora recipe for success. 40ml sugar daddy, and 2.5ml MagiCal per gallon water. I guess the idea is to lower the plants mobile nutrient levels while still providing the immobile as the MagiCal has Calcium/Magnesium among other things. It is a 2-0-0, and has some iron in it as well. The sugar daddy has a slight maple smell (noted in MSDS, lol).

I will probably drag this out a little longer than a week if necessary, but the recipe says first 3 days feed(with this recipe), water, water....then last 4 days flush with water. I was thinking of feed, water, water, feed...then flush like 4 days. I'm just thinking this would give the buds a little more time to finish, and provide more nutrition so I'm not turning my buds into giant nutrient sinks.

I might even just feed-water for the next 5 or 6 days and then just plain water for a few days after that.

She'll be 11 wks in on Tuesday

Heres todays pics:

So my wife recently got on lith for bipolar t2 as well, her back pain has gone down a lot due to lack of depression yay for us. So the thc gives her a bit irridable (other stuff). So we smoke tested this stuff and its really hazy but a bit weak. Qdried 200f for 15 min so I take its not quite ready so goin back to adding nutes. Flushed with water last night and fed tonight hopefully another week and a half of flower should finish her. She was starting to focus on maturing when I switched to the finishing formula but I wonder if the food will help or cause more crowning.

I don't think a full week flush will be necessary as I've limited its food a bit so it prolly is gunna smoothen out with a nice long cure. So ill wait to flush until I start seein ambers.

About the q on cfl..is it possible cfl just bad at finishing to amber?

You really don't want amber trichs on that pretty sativa. Yes it may be a hybrid and you say it is indica dom but that is sativa dom through and through. Yes to total cloudy trichs on your sativa and no to amber, it will alter the up lifting effects in a badway.

I was thinking about that and my question is how the seedbank says narcotic effect. So is it a false assumption amber means cbd and it really means delta8 thc? And cbd isn't something I'm gunna be able to visually pick out? High cbd is what provides that narcotic effect right?

Finally harvested like 4 days ago. Weighed in yesterday 2 1/4 oz (63g) for a total of over 3.5oz on first harvest out of this box. Now box has figuratively paid for itself.

Smoke report. Taste a little harsh(not cured yet) leaves nice slight sweet taste in mouth /slightly numbing. Slight tingly narcotic and mild stoned high. Lasted about 2 hours+ then went to bed. Got excellent sleep. Pain relief works great for wife. Giggly / happy feeling.
