Brand New To Growing

Get started for less than 1k, like $250
Yeah that's the problem you can start for that price but you need to slot in a serious LED light for flower. I've seen so many newbies fail because they had toy lights. I've also seen the exceptions where they could grow anything under a desklamp. So spend $250 to start now? Yes if you can put 500 more in for a serious light or if you're lucky. So yes, you're right he can start for that. But can he finish for that? That's my thinking

That would be cool. Thank you. I can't find an led light with 1000w. Some say 1000w but says it draws like 150 from the wall or something. Does that mean anything?

First of all you need good seeds that'll will sprout and for this part of the grow you don't need light.
Second, good aerated potting soil. Third, once the seed sprouts you'll need light (CFL, T5 etc.) For the initial stages, this is from my little experience so far you don't need expensive lights. Flowering stage is way later in your grow for which you need good light source. Worry about sprouting and seedling stage first. Everything else is secondary at the moment.

You need to think about the area you wanna grow in, then find a light that will cover that space. I would reccomend going with something that puts out around 200w and using a 2x2 tent. Look at viparspectra, mars, spiderfarmer and kingbrite these are all budget friendly lights that have decent reviews

Have you thought about what strain you’d like to grow? Do you have any preferences? We could help you narrow it down to a few strains, we’ve grew a lot of strains on here so there are a lot of people with experience with different types of genetics.

I have a personal favourite to reccomend to beginners and that is barneys farm blue cheese. Their seeds are usually available in 3 packs or even pick and mix so you just buy one, and they’re pretty stable so popping one seed will usually guarantee you one female plant. It’s easy to grow, very forgiving, yields well, and has a very strong and unique smell and taste.

These are all decent options, the last 2 are reccomended for a rectangular footprint but you’d be fine to just dim them abit if necessary and they’d also work well for 2 plants if you decided to expand in the future

a few companies will sell you a kit too and it is often a good opportunity to save abit of cash while getting ur tent, ventilation and light all in one fell swoop

Thank you so much. Now that I had time to think and research, I don't think one plant will make enough buds for me. Maybe 2 plants would work

This one has one of the lights you recommended

My favorite strain is girl scout cookies. I like a "weedy" taste

If cost is prohibitive try second hand as pahpah suggested, least for the expensive things like a light.
Craigslist, ebay ect.

You do not have to use LED.
HPS can be picked up dirt cheap these days.

BTW stagnant air in a room is not ideal.
Contrary to what some believe before starting this journey cannabis likes a climate not far from what we like.

You ideally want to be able to ventilate your room/grow space.

Anyway, things like lights, fans ect can be picked up second hand .
Tents , I would buy new but they are cheap enough.

Be wary or kits like the one you posted, as you can see they are selling you a reasonable tent, fan, filter ect but with a light not powerful enough to light half the tent.
Though it doesn't hurt to have more space than you want to fill.

Just run whatever set up you find by folks on here before buying.
Try not to run in head first.

I appreciate you. I posted 2 tents. The first one does come with a weaker light. The second one comes with a light another user. Here they are again in the order I posted them

Another concern I found was finding a reliable and cheap source of seeds. I've been seeing feminized seeds and autoflower seeds. Hella expensive stuff

My personal opinion is that light is abit too small for that space, I run 330w in that space but that’s the upper limit. I’m sure it will work fine but more light helps raise the yield abit

Others have recommended this for cheap but quality seeds. https://fdmseeds.com/
