to all my brothas from other mothas, I give you my southern redneck woman's grow room:
(try not to laugh too loud, the old man is sleeping)

I started these beauties approximately 3 weeks ago under a single 24?watt fluorescent bulb. Because of that they had those long stretchy stems, so I got my FF Ocean Forest soil and some good old fashioned manure and topsoil and dressed these babies up! sprayed lightly and gave a light soaking of FF BB to help avoid transplant shock and the rest is up to the great guy in the sky. A little tacky maybe, but it's all mine! got them under the light 24/7 till they are vegged out then setting the timer for 12 on 12 off to flower. I'm hoping to harvest these babies by the end of May (or sooner, depending). SO tell me what ya'll think! and don't hold back cause I'm a sissy girl :weed::weed::weed:

P.S. I have two babies still in the bathroom, so I finally have my 5 plants!

Sweetheart, you are going to need more light. A lot more light. Consider a single 23-watt CFL spiral bulb, 6500K in a cheap bowl reflector from Wal Mart, over each plant. You ain't gonna veg nothin' much with that lone tube, hayshaker.

I had a similar single bulb T5 set up, and it just wasn't enough. The plants grew, but very, very slowly (even on a 24/0 cycle). I'd say you'll eventually want more light to give the plants enough energy to grow like they should. And that single bulb probably wouldn't yield much once you flip to flowering. Adding several cfl bulbs might help, though.

Good luck and happy growing!

Like hotrod said, you will need more light soon. If you don't want to put a bunch of cfls everywhere, you will at least need two more of those tubes. I would suggest picking up a couple of two-tube t-5s or t-8s(depending on what is carried local). Should only run you about 30 bucks per fixture and bulbs. And if you aren't going to add some cfls for extra light penetration, I would work on keeping those plants very short. Nice plants can be grown like that, but its a bit more tedious. Good luck.

Peach, keep an eye open at Lowe's, that's where I pick up my CFL's when they go on sale, usually about 9 bucks for the 4 pack of 5000k 13w, and 12 for the 4 pack of 2700k 23w.;-)
How long do you plan to veg?
My plant, I was hoping to have her done and use the space to veg my next plants for at least a month before putting them outside late April or early May, but the way this one is dragging her leaves about finishing up, IDK if I'll be finished in time.

first off, thank you thank you and thank you! see, I knew you guys would steer me right. One day I'll be running with you big dogs and getting my tail off the porch LOL
my son-a very much GROWN man of drinking age LOL- pointed out that I could daisy chain two extra bulbs, one on each side. I can definitely handle that. I'm trying to
find a more discreet place to put this set up, I know I need some mylar to help reflect that light to the sides and I'm still waiting on my desk fan. Any other suggestions? I"m open to all :)

I was at Wally World today, and they still have small fans, and in the camping section, they have the mylar emergency blankets for $3.

Hope she picks up the pace for ya! and thanks for the tip, I was looking online at the hydro store I got my light setup from but they want $7.50 a piece! oh and I figured on vegging at least a month and a half to get some good small bushes. I'm def gonna get the extra bulbs and daisy those things out. I may even pick up an extra clip light from Wally world and put the one I already have with it aimed at the sides. You've been so helpful, thanks buddy!

the light stand came with a T5, I was trying to figure out the diff didn't know if it was just watts or length :/ ...oh and yes, I'm planning on keeping them short. I have two more in my bathroom that are babies, they will go outside in May to finish their season out the old fashion way :)

Nice grow roseypeach. hotrod & bakatarre got you covered on the advice, both have helped me plenty. Can't tell in the photos, how does water drain from your containers?

ACTUALLY nowhere at the present moment. I'm only spraying with plain water and seltzer water lightly every day. Then, once the transplants have settled in a few days, I'll be getting some pebbles for the bottoms and on plastic saucers they will go. Had to put the grocery bags in as a soil preservation method :)

My first grow buddy stopped by for a visit this evening and says its great and all but there is literally no heat coming off of the bulb. SO I am thinking, on the daisy chain situation.....should I get two warmer bulbs to do this with and would it help with the extra energy needed by my girls? I want to keep them slightly chilly for at least a couple more weeks to bring out the female side first. Is that stupid?

btw, thanks a bunch Prosperian!

I grow run 2, 4', 4bulb t-5s for vegetation and they are fine.IMG_0352.jpgIMG_0351.jpgIMG_0350.jpg like your set up so far and I can't give better advice than already been given. I just wanted to show you a couple more t-5s and you'll be just fine. Good growing.

THere is one thing that needs to be brought up ...
Those emergency blankets work great and all ..BUT keep in mind they do make alot of noise when the fan blows on them. They really need to be secured very well .. Just sayin

Personally, I haven't seen any proof to the belief that cold will give you better chances of a fem.
I don't think it will hurt, as long as you don't get them down below 50, then you might see some slowing of growth, and below 40 last year outdoors in late Oct., I got a P lockout from the cold.:-(
