who are you buying from? it's altered by silver. sure silver is a chemical but so are hydrogen and oxygen and everything that composes your body.

i have grown incredibly vigorous and stable feminized strains, nirvana ak48 to name one

Fem seeds have their place. For people who want small grows and stealth, we don't have the luxury of growing out five plants to determine sex. I have a perpetual set-up with two different spaces, but only 3-4 plants max. So fem seeds offer me the best bang for my buck.

You can boycott fem seeds all you want, but I think you will be far outnumbered by those who want them.

I'm with you fem seeds suck I never bought a fem seed yet and don't think I ever will too many herm cases on here but also I've thought about breeding my own stable line to produce stable crops from seed as most strains nowadays are crosses and pheno type gallor some tall some short they produce stable strains and only use them to cross I like mr. nice, soma, sensi and dutch passsion they all sell reg seeds and all quality breeders I don't like green house and barneys farm because of this fem seeds are not natural you should'nt breed with them if you just want some smoke their fine but anything else their worthless
p.s. fem seeds are the anti-christ they where created by the devil to fuck up the future generations of weed so we end up smoking crack or heroin instead of that sweet sweet gift from god the only completly safe drug known to mankind the one I love so very much mary jane shes my mane thing

I don't know about the higher incidence of hermies, since I don't have that much experience with fems, but it does frustrate me when I am looking for a strain and there are no reg seeds available, I know I will either have to keep a mother or cross it with a male from another strain. Since I grow mostly outdoor, cloning is sometimes a hassle, and when I find a strain I want to keep it sure would be nice to be able to make seeds. It's a profit angle for the seed companies, but I would definitely be willing to pay extra to get the reg if they were available just to be able to make my own seeds.

Fem seeds have their place.
So do single seeds. But I am only buying 10 packs and regs from now on. I am looking for breeding stock.

If someone wants to give me fems and singles for free, I will take them. If I have the choice, I will take two regs over one fem.

I like the idea of producting fem seeds, because it is easier for me to pick a nice female. I usually pick males by growth characteristics. Males are bitches, and I don't really want to keep them around.

I can definitely see the convenience of fems. They definitely save time and work, but I would love to be able to grow strains, make seeds, and select the very best plants for my grow over many generations. That's what the breeders do and I guess they want to protect their own interests. Good thing I've finally got cloning figured out.

Me neither...if you don't like fem seeds, don't buy them. I don't complain about volkswagens, I just don't drive one.
I don't think people have an issue with a company offering fem seeds, after all, they are very convenient. I think a lot of the issue comes with companies who sell nothing but fem for the sole reason that you will not be able to spluff em and as such not need to bother about buying from them again. Take dr greenhorn for example. He ONLY does fems because then you HAVE to buy some more short of keeping clones (which for the price you'd be mad not to). They will all claim it is about convenience, but the real truth is they are thinking about their profit margins.

i got about 10 packs of seeds in my stash, 5 of them are Regular 5 of them are Fem, i take the fem seeds and run a pack of a strain that i would like 2 run in regular and mother out later on in time. like dude said, if your growing from seed for yourself 2 smoke, use fems, 2 hermie dogs will not ruin your crop shut the fuck up and stop crying, i promise you you have had at least a handful of single hermie dogs you jus didnt even notice. so when your ready 2 do some breeding or 2 start a mother/clone thing going, buy a pack of regs 2 use, Fems if your testing or growing from seed 2 smoke. real fucking simple, and like dude said "dont buy em if you dont like em" last time i checked there is about 5000 breeders out there and 5000000+ strains so quit fuckn cryn goddamn, they need 2 call this site "cryallfuckndayinsteadofrollnitup.org"

I. B. N. F. S (I Breed No Fem Seed ).... Sounds like we need a coalition. A good thred starter as well as new group.
Mabey with enough interests, breeders will stay on course and keep these out of the market the feminization of strains, degrades the strain and the work put in by original breeder is lost to time.
Half the damm seeds these seed banks aren't fem seeds anyway, and are often substituted with regs.
Clearly they are placed on the market to increase profit margins by targeting a group of people with more money than brains. Is a boycott of seed brokers by sensible (I. B. N. F. S. ers), really mandated, sounds just and fair to me. After all they've been bending people over for years.....

Taking "what God gives you" is not a way to choose seeds. Even if I were religious, I would assume that since God made the regular seeds... then surely he would have also been responsible for the feminized seeds as well. Some people love their regular seeds, some love their fem seeds. I love whatever seeds can grow me fat, consistent, dank buds. I just wonder- is there no place for feminized seeds in breeding? I mean-I know they breed 'em and package 'em up, but are they completely useless to a 'real' breeder (a breeder concerned with genetics/quality rather than capitalism/sales)?

Silver is organic, and when used to produce feminized seeds, does not instigate hermaphroditic traits that were not already in the parent plant(s). Read about it, try it and then make a judgment. It is easy to make and easier to use. Don't base your thoughts on feminized seeds on one breeders negligence to use quality plants in the first place...
This is true to a degree. However it should be noted there are so many potential offspring from even a fairly recessive inbred plant that it's sometimes difficult to say for sure what will turn up. Vigor is unquestionably lost, certain traits can be locked down but unwanted traits usually arise too without incredible amounts of selection or luck. Suffice to say, even the good fems I suspect you will end up with plants that you flat out don't want in your garden.

Growing out some feminized Think Different outdoors at the moment and while some of the plants are pretty impressive, there is one that is awful and another handful that aren't much better due to recessive foxtailing and self topping (really awful a couple of the plants, truly) traits. The smoke might be ok but I am not looking forward to trimming and the weight isn't gonna be great on those plants. I planted 20 or so. I'd say about 50% of them were desirable plants. The other 50% not so desirable.

So long as the fem seeds are produced correctly they WON'T be any more likely to herm than non feminized genetics.

It's when breeders end up with a crop pollenated by a herm and use those seeds for freebies and promotional giveaways, or even for sale, that an issue arises. It's ignorant to bash feminized seeds as a whole when a bad sample is likely the cause of your troubles.
That depends on how much you know about them. It's pretty easy to bash feminized seeds as they are inbred and, beyond herming, often have other unwanted traits. They always lack vigor compared to the parent plants (usually F1's or F2's). And by inbreeding they are removing diversity from the gene pool. You can lose genes forever.

Any company that sells fems exclusively is not particularly ethical IMO. I ain't gonna say there's no market for them or that they shouldn't do it, but I won't be supporting those who only put out S1's. I won't be boycotting fem seeds either as I understand them and the risks they come with, but generally speaking you won't see many in my garden and your chances of finding something truly special are better in regs too IMO because of the diversity. No compromise elite = better than compromised elite (lacking vigor etc) IMO.
