Boveda or Old S'Chool??

I have a real question for the masses.

Do you rely on Boveda packs in your jars/CVault ? or are you old school and cure it, store it/use it, all from a jar ( or something else??/!! )??
I've seen some sick buds a year old or more still sticky and gooey long before the Boveda crowd.

Tell us, what methods do you use to keep your bestest buds the freshest the longest . . ??

I'm following. I've been using both and trying to decide what I like better.

I just got into some Pineapple Express from a year ago. I just thought I'd share a pic. Still looks decent and smells good. Sorry for the shitty old school IPad photo.

And I don't go crazy manicuring. I don't mind a few sugar leaves hanging around.

Jarred on 1-15-20. But this pic was taken just now. This is just what I grabbed out and put in my little jar. I have a couple more bigger jars that I pull from.

I think a lot of people misuse the Boveda packs. I usually don't have bud hanging around for to long but if I do, I will use a Boveda pack. I only use them when the humidity drops below 62% average over 6 different hygrometers. I cure/burb until it reaches 62%, then I can keep the buckets closed for awhile until the humidity drops below 60%, upwards of 2 months. I use 5 gallon buckets with gamma seals so I know its air tight which makes all the difference. If 2+ months go by and the humidity drops below 60% I will use a large Boveda pack per buckets but It's real rare I have to go this route.

So, I would say if you don't intend to have your buds around for a few months, can cure and monitor down to low 60's humidity and store in an air tight container, then you don't need these humidity type packs.

I keep an Integra Boost in each jar, haven't really noticed any downsides.

I’m in Arizona, last harvest ran into 90 degree+ season and it dried out way faster than I planned. I think I may have saved it with the boveda pack. I don’t know the humidity before I put it in for the first day, but it was looking sad. Now a few weeks later it’s got all its crystals and is starting to feel sticky and the way I want it. Can’t say for sure but my meter says it’s exactly at 58% like the pouch says in there…I do have to say that I use them for my string instruments and they work very well for that, so I am inclined to trust Boveda. I’m going to keep using them.

paper bags for 5-7 days then oven bags (4-5 oz per bag) open once every 12 hours for 5 minutes, sticky smelly excellent smoke , dont use boveda or interga packs, if I need abit more moisture I will add a handful of fan leaves for 24-48 hours and check again.... works well for me

I started using them a few years ago. It can get really hot and dry where I live, I cure as regular but pop one in every jar just as an extra failsafe.

Cold storage in glass jars is the best way to keep your buds fresh the longest IMO. Get yourself a wine fridge to keep it classy. Cool temps will help keep your terps from gassing off and prevent your flowers from getting brown.

Update, I grabbed a few leaves based on someone elses recommendation and put those in a jar next to the boveda pouch. The Jar with the Boveda pouch has gone from 58% down to 46% in less than a week. The one with the leaves has been pretty steady in the upper 50s.

I read this somewhere else, and the guy said "frostless." I thought all refrigerators are frostless but don't wanna just throw a few ounces of my fresh nugs in there and end up with mold or rot or something. Assuming my refrigerator has been purchased in the last 2 years, probably safe to just put a jar in there for a month?

You put it in the paper bag, when? Your leaf trick is working better than these pouches, so I want to implement your whole strategy.

I guess I'm real old school. I dry it and jar it up. No burping or anything.

from harvest - cut buds off, put in paper bag, I put the bag inside a cardboard box (slows down the process)--

I've never used them. I use these:
1/2# per container on average with gasket sealed lids. Probably would have been cheaper to do 5g buckets with gamma lids but I had concerns about how much space that would take up. And with a larger container there is more air present resulting in buds drying out faster each time the container is opened and closed.

A guy I know loves those fancy steel bowls and boveda packs. I can assure you it doesn't help his garbage quality pot taste any better. It smells musty. Absolutely stupid useless devices in my opinion but to each their own. For long term storage I'll second the vote for cold air tight storage. Not in the freezer. Fridge / wine cooler.

I have really come to like the hang dry and then into paper bags in a nice thick black trash bag.
If I can have this good of flower on my first go round with virgin living soil and my first full term grow ever. I had no one to help me with the cure.
So since I hated buying shit weed I started smoking it after the initial dry. I tested it until I liked it. I can now appreciate waiting for a proper cure, but I won't run out either . . .
I have not had much luck with autos (they germ, they don't come up though). I like the photo variety and a heavier yield.
As far as Boveda packs, I will not be purchasing them again. Store 'em in mason jars under the stairs in the basement.
The "C_Vault" is just a boveda accessory. I always wonder about putting things into reactive bowls, gotta do something to flavor over time (my opinion).

I agree, the boveda packs in my opinion ruined the last harvest. Anything positive I may have said about them I take back. I used the paper bag right from harvest trick, in Arizona, during 110 heat and 8% humidity (outdoors, but still ac is at 7. Dried them for about two weeks down to 60% and then put them in grove bags that “don’t require burping” (they do maybe a couple times a week but not every day) that work amazingly well. I’m so pumped two weeks into this harvest with the paper bags->finish drying in grove bags-> seal grove bags for last two weeks, headed to Hawaii and will have some amazing forum stomper and toofless alien ready to go.
