I bought this 6 pack of CLFs, the box says they only use 26w's so i would use all of them correct? to = 156 watts ?? i dont get why 100 watt bulbs only use 26, if im getting this correctly.. :wall:

i have a picture again! please take a look and tell me what you think!

They say 100 because it replaces a 100w incandecent. thus why they are more energy efficient. i can't tell from the box if they are bright or soft white. Aside from the watts and lumens, does it have something tht says 2700 or 6500 or where they are in the light spectrum. You need the bright (blue spectrum 6500) for veg and soft white (red spectrum 2700) for flower. Use as many as you can once your plant is going. Keep them as close as possible to the plant and go sideways so that more the bulb, not just the tip, is close to the plant.

Those bulbs use only 26W of energy, but are a suitable replacement for a 100W incandescent bulb. These fluoro bulbs are fine seedlings and clones, tube-fluoro are a bit better for growing just because they are easier to adjust for maximum light penetration.

Good for a simple start I think, and yes you would need to use all of these in order to effectively supply a plant with adequate lighting.

(Also, I second GrowinDad's info about light spectrums)

Thanks for the input guys! on the back of the box it says 2700K, so the light appearance is "warm". the brightness is 1650 lumens. These will not work for the beginning?...

looks good to me. they use 26w of power but make as much light as a 100w incandescant bulb which is why they are rated that way. Most 26w GE bulbs i found by googoling advertise a 6500k spectrum, so its pretty likely that these ones do to.
these bulbs spaced around 1 plant should do the trick (i believe u said u were growing just 1 in ur other thread). id start with 1 or 2 in use when ur plant first pops from the ground then add more as it gets bigger. you want the lights about 2-4 inches away from the leaves.
when you plant starts flowering you may want to replace a few with 2700k bulbs but it is definatly possible to do your whole grow with 6500k and get good results
best of luck on your grow

edit guess you posted while i was typing. 2700's wont work as well in veg, but they will still grow, just not as well as they would with 6500's

keep your 2700's , your going to want them later when you flower, and adding a few mixed in with your 6500's during veg will give a better overall growth spectrum, id say 1 2700 for every 2 6500 or something like that

those are good bulbs. you can grow 1-3 plants with them. those are the biggest cfls youll find in a pack like that, until you start buying huge individual ones. 1650 lumens is a great output for a cfl. my 18 watt ones put out 1100 lumens and my 23 watts 1600 lumens.

what temperature are they rated at? for veg youll need 5-7k and for flower 2-3k.

adjorr made a good suggestion about hanging a few 2700k bulbs in there. i do that when i veg as well, then during flower i do the same, vice versa.

keep the cfls ~6 inches from the canopy.

Never said he was wrong this time. I just said don't listen. I'll try not to bash Bmeat in EVERY thread I see him in then, sorry bout that.

Why so much hate...

Anyway, dude, ive tried vegging with 12x 23watt 3000K CFL and it sucked BIG TIME. After 2 month my plant didnt grow pass 8inch (northen light) with little immature yellow fan leaf.

Then i found a thread about light kelvin, started over, ditched the 3000k CFL and bought 12x 6500K CFL and DAMN! This shit is growing like crazy.

Im not a expert, not at all, but i know you have to take Kelvin's seriously

You can always use those 2700K if you want to flower with, but you will need ALOT of them or use it around the house.

nice rig man. cfls have high quality light. that will produce very nice flowers.

during flower, you can just swap out 8 for 2-3k bulbs.

Ok first of all home depot carries a 150 watt equiv cfl for the 2700k spectrum.
Second of all, At any point in time i will not have my cfls more than 4 inches from the canopy.

I keep em pretty close, with a fan going on them, my leaves can almost touch,, 6in wow thats another splended fact from bmeat for ya, i keep em no farther than 2/3 imo

Thats probably a propper set up with reflectors and the whole nine yards, unless you want stretching i would keep them no more than 4 imo with a fan and good temps you can go closer,, your the judge of that stick your hand inbetween the light and plant see how it feels, watch your plant if it looks like its not happy and leaves are curling, prob got the light to close, if they are reaching to much for it"stretching" lights are to far
