Hey guys I am have a small closet grow going that is 5 x 2 x 8 with a 400w hps that has 6 inch flanges. That equals out to 10sqft and 80 cubic ft. I heard on a grow room calculator that I would need about 74cfm for optimum ventilation. But I have heard of 400w users using 270cfm+ fans? So I have been looking at some "booster fans". They claim to have generally 150-180cfm. They also claim that they shouldn't be used alone. why can't they be used alone? They are a cheaper alternative to buying a $150 inline fan thats 400cfm.
My main questions are.
Will a 150-180cfm booster fan be enough to ventilate a 5 x 2 x 8 room with a 400w hps?
Would a booster fan be quieter then an inline fan?
Is a booster fan strong enough to ventilate by itself or will it just break down?
Would it just be a better idea to bite the bullet and shell out an extra $100 for an inline fan?
