Trust me I know. I've read Dune, Children and God Emperor about 7 times in my life all the way through. The last two books were...odd but had interesting moments. I think my favorite is God Emperor....a quote I can't find, but leto 2 is in his bed alone, thinking of the past in his hideous form and then starts to sob...and the fish speakers guarding his door say something like "God must have a lot on his mind today...". It was somber and pretty touching, none of his sons books come close though in that regard.

Only read Herbert's "An unparalleled achievement of the imagination " ( printed on cover of my book) "Dune" twice, 1st time, 1972 in college...blew me away...

i just finished listening to "The Wheel of Time" audiobook for the second time (read the whole thing twice in trade paperbacks and the last 4 in hardback so i could get them asap....)
i'm just dreading how bad prime video is going to butcher the whole thing...they've already started saying shit like "this is our take on it"....FUCK YOUR TAKE ON IT...you didn't sell over 80 million copies of any of your shit, just in print alone, not counting audio books, comics, and graphic novels...

ive sadly never read a book in all my 54 years on this planet, i can read the same paragraph over and over b 4 i even realise it, sometimes around ten times. the words get jumbled up and its gereraly too hard to read. dont know what it is that causes it, but its a bummer

My daughter has same problem....doctors blamed the jumbled words a result of her inability to "track" words or motion of light beam .

maybe dyslexia? might be a form of aphasia...or it could just be that you don't like reading...try an audio book and see if it goes any better for you

i'd have an implant to augment my memory in a hot minute...after some other people had had one for a couple of years without dropping dead...or turning into doctor octopus...
not familiar with zizek's work
i've read up on a lot of philosophers, mostly looking for one that made sense to me...all i've ever found are a lot of dreamers trying to convinve you that their dream is real...better job than being a weather man, you CAN'T be wrong, when you set the parameters of reality
