i love bonsai. i dont have any currently...my cat ripped my 3 year old jap. maple to shreds..i was so angry. im growing catnip and some other herbs now..idk if i ever told anybody here what happened to me. to be conclusive it prohibits me from any activity i REALLY enjoy.

Bonzai isn't for all plants. I doubt you could make a weed bonzai. That would be a challenge as they grow so prolifically.

I have been growing Bonzai and herbs for years. I just added 2 young bonzai to the deck.
A Cotoneaster and a False Cypress.

I got a bonsai I bought at the dollar store.
theres a bosai store down the block... I want to go ... I'm gonna go now.
nice plants everyone...

I love bonsai, I got into it this past summer. I tried rooting a bunch of cuttings from evergreen trees in my yard but it didn't really work. A neighbor let me take seedlings from their yard i have a few of those and some dwarf Cyprus trees (different varieties) that i bought from a nursery. Their all in about 3" pots, and i buried those in the long pot for the winter, i may bury that in the ground as well, not sure yet. I hope they make it through the winter...

So when you do Jap maple trees as Bonsai, do they shed their leaves and have a dormant period? I have a jap maple and I could make a clone easily next year, now I just might.

Well this is my first winter with them, but ya i'm pretty sure they do lose their leaves and go into a dormant period. Instead of cloning it you could also just gather a few seeds it dropped, they may still be there, you might even find a sapling growing near it. I think when you start a bonsai from seed you want to start it in the winter, but don't take my word on it, and hey that's why we have Google! Right? Good luck either way.

i have have a bluberry bonsai and a bahamaberry. but they do take a lot of care. i killed my first bonsai it was a natal plum.

hey when your doing your trimming can you take the excess and clone them? i just started a ficus that needs some trimming and i was just woundering about that cause bansai s are a really badass stoner tree

bahamaberry bonsai, 5 years old. blueberry bonsai, 8 years old. orange bonsai, 2 years old.
