Howdy o7. Assistance required for sure :wall:

I inherited a Bonsai plant/tree today, it was unexpected and doesn't look like it's in great shape. There is some dying/dead leaves, droopy, looks a bit of a mess. Soil is dry as a bone. How can I help this little one out? I've put it in my window but UK December there isn't really such thing as sun, I also have some plain old tap water sat out in a jug at room temp to give. I don't have any food, I don't even know what food to give? 8| I can get tomato feed tomorrow, anything else would have to order online so as long as delivery is.

Any help appreciated :D

It sounds like its going dormant for the winter. Cool spot with plenty of indirect sun very light feeding daily in the morning. Never know you might end up with a beautiful specimen tree. Good luck

Toolage 87 - Sorry for the late reply. I don't know what kind of plant it is, I was told nothing about it and I haven't kept anything similar before. I have ordered some well reviewed food, it'll be here before New Year. Thanks for the advise.

RAWise - I'm going to get this little one looking great, thanks for the advise, appreciated!

Just loading the pic from my phone to comp now... It's not a good pic, auto flash/zoom function isn't the best in my dark, dark room.

Don't look to bad, it looks like a boxwood or tea tree.

It definitly looks better since I had some water and light, it's been in the window since I got it but we haven't had more than 10-15 mins direct sun in the last few days. Seems to be perking up nicely, i'll leave it til the new year then see what needs trimming. Boxwood or tea tree, i'll go take a look at some see if I can compare. Thanks!

Hey RAWise, I believe it is a sagaretia shrub. According to the interwebs it is widely used for creating bonsai. (wikipedia.. not the greatest)

My guess is a ficus, can't tell for sure, but it doesn't like it has the same inflorescence as Sageratia, can't tell because the picture is a little small for me. S. theezans being one of the most common.

You would have to key it out to be sure. Ficus is the Moracea family aka fig.

Hi Abiqua o7 Thanks for the input. I don't know enough to identify the plant based on comparison pics from the interwebs, but a search through images to led me to a supermarket kinda thing which were selling 4 varieties of plant in colour coded pots. According to the website it would make the plant I have a Sagaretia shrub. That being said... the website could claim it anything i'd know no better. Wish I could find the damn link again..

Take some better pictures, someone here will be able to identify it. It looks alright. I thought it kinda looked like a Fukien Tea Tree as well.
