BM/SC/LogH side by side auto grow

Hello there RIU ppl! I’ve started 3 more seeds, after a very successful first harvest of 3 plants back in June. My first Blue Mystic is spectacular, yesterday was the 2 month curing birthday and let me tell you, the scent out of the jar is soo sweet, it’ll make your teeth hurt. It also made me realize all the bs bags of “good” nugs I’ve bought from people, was straight CRAP!!! Apparently I’ve been paying $60 for 1/8 of straight sub-par product for many years – sooo much money. And WHO KNEW good nugs don’t make you cough!!!! OK, lots of ppl know, but I’m LOVING having my lungs back, I don’t smoke tobacco. I am kicking myself for not doing this sooner, but I had no idea how easy it really can be. (I’m already a regular gardener) Each of my plants from the first harvest pulled a little over 1.5 oz each, and 2 of the plants ended up very heat stressed, but still yielded the same. All 3 plants prior were grown with (16) 23w CFL bulbs in soil. I’m excited about this 2nd round.

This round, I’ve upgraded the entire grow area (again) and upgraded the lighting to a 300w LED panel. (not cob) in addition, I’ve mounted the old CFL’s on the side of the LED area just because I can’t really cram 3 plants under that small panel, and I already had the bulbs and hardware, so why not.

Each seed was planted 1 day apart, Blue Mystic first, Swiss Cheese second and Lemon OG Haze third. The LogH will be in the CFL spot for the entire grow. All seeds are from Nirvana. Soil is FFHF + pearlite (don’t need much pearlite in cloth pot) containers are 5 gal. (not the actual smart pot brand, those suck… the brand that starts with a V, thicker and the handles are stronger) The Swiss Cheese is in a 7 gal, just to see what happens I guess.

Today is day 27 and I’m seeking advice on training. The Blue Mystic plant was the 1st germinated (48 hours) and it’s the strain I’m most familiar with having grown 2 plants of her already. This is a nice compact growing plant, and previously I LST her with no problem, had fat buds all the way at the bottom as they reached for the edge of the plant then curved upward. (I ran CFL’s all around my previous grow, not just top lighting) So this round, I pulled the branches out of the center, and pulled the main stalk far enough that it’s a full even nice canopy. I am pretty satisfied with the result. Oh I also attempted to FIM her, but fuk, I really missed I guess and only ended up cutting off barely new growth tips (hey I was nervous)  No love lost.

Swiss Cheese on the other hand, decided to stretch quite a bit (overnight), and it bulked up the stem so fat that I’m afraid I’ve missed my window to LST. If I try it, I’ll bet that sucker will snap right in half and I’ll be one pissed off mofo. I initially thought I should just grow an auto without any training just to see what happens (got to try different stuff to grow my experience heh). But is that the right move? I’ve already tied out the bottom branches, now it looks silly with the gigantic middle cola that’s shooting for the stars. I had to lift up the Blue Mystic just to try to keep them at the same level for max light coverage. Should I just untie the bottom and maybe try to Scrog? Not sure if I’ll have the space for that, but it’s not like I can’t change it all again to make it work, get a new panel maybe and move her to the other side of the room. No, I really don’t want to do that. Maybe this strain just grows gigantic… Any thoughts?

I had an amnesia that got stunted cuz a seed leaf got ripped off. I waited forever to lst her she was such a tight compact little branchy BUSH...I finally was able to pull her over just at the top. What you are aiming for is that just the tip of the plant (don't have to be the whole stalk) needs to be underneath the level of those nice side branches you already got tied down... this will cause the enzymes in the plant to switch into overdrive to produce a high top and pushes them pretty darn quick, too. if you are worried about breaking it grab the top little "bud" and "swing it down, curving it inward then upward, even, that will distribute the pressure better. Then you can tie it down...also helps to firmly but gently squeeze where the plant is bending just to the point of snapping (it should not break as long as you release pressure as soon as you feel it snap)...this will help with placement if it proves to be a little hard to get it where you want it. This will also benefit that branch greatly because it is basically Super-Cropping, as well :-P... when that amnesia took off (just after a feeding b4 being put in the sun a couple days (they are autos and get lots of light (20/4 when not outside - I mix it up lol)) anyway all the side branches gained 6-8" in that time, BUT were a bit stretchy. So I actually almost was too rough and had to splint where I snapped it just to bring those tall tops down and out to open up the center bottom, you can see it in my current grow on the last page of the thread in my sig... all of my plants got manhandled pretty rough after their four hours of dark this AM... I will be posting I really can't believe that I got one of these girls to open up any further, but OMG is it going to help the end dry weigh. The bottom center of that plant is still pale green and now FULLY exposed...drop by the thread and check it out if you like.

Thanks Wolfie, I can't believe everything you went through with your seedlings, sux man... I lost some seeds too this round, forgot about squeezing all the extra water out of jiffy pods, and think I drowned 2 seeds :( Anyways, I got it done, even though I thought I waited too long, it turned out ok, I just waited even a few more days, and it got tall enough for me to bend, only sightly, but then I adjusted the tie a little further up still, and it's crazy how it came out like steps, but the canopy is right where I wanted it to be now :) Between day 33 and 37 there is a big difference, I retied the Blue Mystic to spread out the canopy more, and they are looking great. I can't even believe I started out in a bucket, then a cabinet, then a bigger cabinet.... I keep running out of room! I'll just have to run 2 seeds I think from now on... even still, it seems like 1 plant can take up an entire LED 300w panel by itself... o_O well, it'll have to do for now.
Happy gardening :weed:
