bLURPLIEST lIGHT

"All our testing so far has shown that high UVA and near-UV from 395nm-420nm is equal to or better than UVB and UVA <395nm at increasing cannabinoid levels. What's more, high UVA and near-UV are cheaper to produce and potentially less damaging to plants and growers working underneath these lights."

Near-UV = blue/purple
Thanks for posting that. I’ve seen other info on UV but nothing on blue (430nm).

Interesting. Last week I swapped a HPS and 5k MH for a 10k MH finisher lamp for the last weeks only. I have plans to use a 600W HPS on one side of the tent ceiling, and 2 250W MHs in 5k & 10k to get really a balanced broad spectrum.
Nice that sounds like a good mix, I’ve heard of people having great results with combining MH and HPs like those dual arc bulbs.

Some people have said the blurples they’re outdated but every grow journal I’ve seen with them turned out frosty AF.
I don’t know about purple leds but I’m looking at purple metal halides
You can get florecent uva uvb tubes that will ramp up the frost and increase thc, they are good. Might be worth checking out as a add on if you use led lighting.

Some of the higher thc numbers they are coming out with nowadays was all possible partly due to the progresion of lighting to what it is now. The wide band in white looking led lighting has the widest band of lighting which includes all colours an not just little spikes of certain colours like previous lighting. Its some of the first lighting that is matching the sun. Would be nice if you could tip the balance to be blue heavier or red heavier aswell as having far far reds and the uva an uvb aswell.

I did a grow with a Kind blurple in 2017. The plant grew just fine. The issue with the blurple spectrum is that, lacking green light, it was really hard to detect issues with the plant. I used special glasses but it was still a PITA compared using a "white" LED today.

And, of course, PPFD maps were awful compared to today. Below is the PPFD map for the Kind 600 XL, Series 1 light which retailed for $600 in 2017.

Blurple technology if antiquated and any light using it today will, at best, tend to be low quality because, in a race to the bottom on price, you've got to do everything you can to cut cost or you go out of business. The PC clone business was the same way in the 80's and 90's.
just turn off the light and turn on the regular lamp dude.

Yea I got a 6 watt bug zapper in my tent it’s got some UV. I was using a reptile floro but i stopped since I already have enough uv/ near-uv with the MH

The so called “full spectrum” leds are just little spikes in the spectral graph and are nowhere near the spectrum of the sun.
I believe floros are closer to the spectrum of the sun since they at least have far infrared. Half of the sun’s spectrum is far infrared, leds have none of that.
I believe the closest lights to the spectrum of the sun are 6000 - 10,000 k metal halides or ceramic metal halides.

That's how some growers dealt with it but, for a lot of growers and, for the cannabis industry in general, that wasn't a viable option.

The cost of buying, installing, and maintaining another set of lights would have added to both initial and ongoing costs. In addition, that approach would have added the complexity and hassle of off shutting of lights, something that should be avoided for photoperiod cannabis, to do plant maintenance.

All told, blurples were a failure in the marketplace yet LED's were rapidly embraced when "white" or "full spectrum" LED's became available.

Blurples are bad for your vision, they're the opposite of stealth (anyone who sees a purple light in your window knows WTF you're doing) and they're inefficient. A more cost effective option would be a cheap full-spectrum qb style light; Mars Hydro, Bloom Plus, Unit Farm, and a ton of "just fine" Chinese off-brands.
your reply is bad for my vision. I didnt ask whats good or not good for my eyes i said i want a blurple cause it looks sweet and we need to find the purplest blurple they sell thats the quest

Im looking for the most effective blurple light that they make. i dont want to get ripped off on energy i want it to have a nice spread on it have a good spread and i prefer a more violet purple color over the pink hues does anyone have a light like this? Also itd be great to have a good diode for a decent lifespan
I did pretty good with FSGTEK 600watt. They have the color your describing and the flower was delightful enough. I’ve moved on to much more powerful cmh though, for now.D948D5D0-04FF-4C01-9B11-18CA7FC33F5E.jpeg

That must be very frustrating - no one here understood your question except you. I hope you find an audience that's more suitable.

i recon once you have found your blurpleyiest blurple you can find you should paint your walls with glow in the dark paint!. not only will look sick as! it will also improve your yeild cause your buds will grow in the night, thus making your set up more efficient than the "so called" "full spectrum white led" nonsense witchcraft that everyone has been fooled by.

That’s why I keep my bug zapper on at night it’s like an 80s disco all night long party time and the bug zapper is 100% blurple.
