4x 600w HPS could technically cover your whole space which wouldn’t leave much room for walkways. A 600w typically covers a 3.5x3.5 or 4x4.

Not a lot of options for SE digital ballasts at this point. I love my Solis Tek Matrix’s but they aren’t available anymore unfortunately.

I would go with one of these. They are at least UL listed unlike the cheapos on Amazon.

As for ballasts, your in the USA so that gear is allot cheaper for you than it is for me. I started out with cheap chinese no-name ballasts but got away from them after having one of em fuck up an melt all the wiring inside. I've been out of the Single Ended HPS/MH game for awhile so Idk what the hot ticket is nowadays.

alright. Last but not least. I was thinking of starting out in coco/perlite (70/30) for my first grow..anything else I should add into that mix ? Work castings or ect. ?
Also thinking of growing in 7 gallon non woven fabric bags, should that be fine ? Or maybe go bigger/smaller ? Also what kind of nutrients should I pick up ?

I'm growing in that mix and 5 gal hempy buckets.

If ur going 7 gal I assume ur going big plants? If a plant need let's say 5 gal growing In soil it would only need 3 in coco.

You should use hydro nutrients, non organic is the way. I bought some worm castings and other stuff to make tea for root problems but never had any.

Doesn't need to be liquid though it makes mixing easier(don't have to dissolve powder). U can save some money going powder, so choose what matters to you.

I'm not familier with different brands. I use atami hydro series and seems ok.

I use straight coco and it works great. Personally I don’t think coco needs perlite since it’s already a very porous medium but you can add it if you want. Promix HP is also a great soil-less medium. 3-5 gallons should be fine. Coco generally uses smaller pots with multiple feeds per day.

I use Dyna-Gro nutrients. Fairly cheap, very concentrated and is a complete nutrient that doesn’t require a bunch of supplements. Foliage Pro for veg and a mix of Foliage Pro & Bloom for flower.

Only info I can kick in regarding the coco/perlite is to make sure you rinse the shit outta the perlit prior to putting it in. I ran a 50/50 mix a couple times and it was great, just not my bag of tricks. I had an issue the first time where I didn't rinse it at that shit seemed to cement in pockets due to my mistake.

i use promix, its peat based i dont do the high porosity i use the one with the micro organisms added. its a peat/perilite/vermiculite/ mix it has some lime in it as well i believe for ph adjustment. usually just water with nutrients 6.0 ph everytime generally have no problems.

Yes indeed, rinsed coco has a very different nice feel to it, compared to straight hydrated brick. Washed half my coco away but worth it. It drains so well.

Rinse it in a fabric pot and you won’t lose any of the coco.

I’ve used bricks for years, they work awesome for the price. I would hydrate 3 at a time in 60G fabric pot inside of a kiddie pool. After hydrating pull the fabric pot out of the pool and rinse the coco.

Guess in fabric pots u dont need to filter out small particles but with my system I have to. 1/2" drain buried in perlite. If all the dust settles down there drainage decreases alot.
