Bluelab soil and water pH pen

Anyone have any experience with this product? I have the pH probe already but it only works with water. I am considering buying the soil pH pen but have seen a few negative reviews. I would like to get a good soil pH meter so I know exactly the pH of my medium

I would have bought this instead because it can do liquids as well~ I just want to be sure before I get one that this one will last me 5 years at least before I drop 150$ on it and then buy the maintenance kit on top.

Thank you all!

I personally wouldn't bother with the soil pen, reason being is that you can mix a small amount of soil into a liquid soup with neutral tap water and measure pH from there. Calibrate regularly and even cheap chinese meters aren't terrible.

Amend either the soil or coco properly that's my idea at least. Works well for most.

how do you amend coco? I will buffer/ precharge, and use R/o with hydro specific nutes.
I am interested in going into it, but I use soil usually and not sure how to amend it. Its been forever since I've needed to use ph/ppm meters but I am specifically using this for coco and sometimes soil

the main reason I am interested in this pen is my other one is 10 years old and only does water. this is only 50 $ more and does soil as well so I was wondering about peoples first hand experiences.

Look at the Blulab Leap probe, it's an outstanding tool. Universal for all media types, and liquid. If you already have a handheld unit.
Expensive, yes, worth every penny to me, absolutely.

Edit: looking back, you may be referring to the Leap....

The leap looks nice I like that you can replace the probe what a nice looking tool

I have the blue lab "liquid style" probe and the "soil" probe.

Personally the soil probe has been the best investment. It is easier to use for me because can just probe the soil versus digging and slurry. Time restraints.

I now check pH more frequently and am able to make the minor adjustments before they show up in the plant and NEED major adjustments.

The probes read the same for me and require calibration along the same frequency. Personally would have gotten the soil pen over the liquid for my style of growing. It has definitely helped me out more simply due to the ease of use.

Plus not digging around in my little pots breaking roots up for slurry has an anxiety relieving effect.
