LOL..looks like i ruffled some feathers. I like the BCNL box and think its a great product. I definitely didn't want to waste a few days building my own. I would have bought one if they looked more like regular cabinets or were taller. I didnt want to exhaust my light cooling exhaust into the same room so i needed something taller so the ducting to the ceiling could be closer allowing me to place a box on top between the cab and ceiling to hide the ducting.
Since i will be in the SW desert in a month as my primary residence this was almost a necessity to me to keep the heat from raising my ambient temps.
I added up my costs and with all the nutes and stuff the total was 4200 but i got like 10 cycles of nutes, sentenial chhc-1, c02 w/ alum tank, 1/5 hp water chiller and like 300 in seeds...hope they don't go bad. Plasma was 600 but just sold it right after i was done for 550. And i didnt raise suspicion and i live in on the 18 floor of a highrise. They aren't loud don't smell. Also my cab has room for my mothers and veg a chamber. So if i added those "BCNL" modules it would have been more than 4 grand anyway. I really like their digital read outs control deal on there high end model with all the controls consolidated. That is something that is just impossible to pull off by yourself in less than a few hours.
No drama- some valid points but i do not feel the "proven" is argument is valid. Growing bud isnt that hard brother. I grew some killer shit when i was an undergrad in a 95 degree closet and minimal nutes in some soil. I did just kill my plants though that you saw in the journal, but purposely lol. I am moving from the NE to the SW this October and have to have a moving company ship all my shit. I wasn't thinking when i started the grow but didn't want the thing to smell even after empty for security reasons when moved that far. I hate leaving my grow journal unfinished, but there will always be more grows to document. And it really only took like an 1 hour to order everything and about 18 hours to build. This 18 hours would have been less if i didn't hang panda paper which was the biggest waste of time. Hard as hell and ended up tearing it down anyway and used white rubber paint. Not 18 straight hours but like over 6 days. And trust me man i have no building skills. I didnt even own a screwdriver before i did this project. Definitely spent more time than that though on this site looking at others cabs and best products to use. 200 hours...lol. Thats like a fulltime job for 5 weeks, haha. I could have carved a growcab out of soap if i spent that much time. And i would have gladly paid up to 7,000 for a prefabbed unit if i felt it met my needs. If i di buy one though it would have probably been the supercloset or bcnl.
I am confident that it will grow a pound a cycle though. I only plan on 2 grows a year as that all the weed i need. The whole unit is heavy as shit though(guessing 300lbs) especially w/ the sound insulation and rubber paint. I wouldn't recommend the sound insulation if doing it again as there isnt much noise. Anyone know the weight of the bcnl unit like the producer? They look like solid units.
If anyone for BCNL comes back to this thread, i would like to make a request. I looked into a non compressor type compact cabinet cooling device. The cheapest i could fine was a dual fan thermoelectric set-up that ran like 2 grand. These can be built for like 150 bucks or less if you have the time to design one. I would have paid 1000 for it but for 2000g i just dont think its worth it. Maybe you have something similar in mind already.
Happy growing
