The only time I've had the hay smell is when I've cut to soon well then I would let it ride for as long as you can stand it wishing you the very best luck

That is one lovely hen, quick name her and setup a coop. She's gorgeous. I consider calling her Freckles or Pecky Face.
I'm with you on the environment for drying. Same stats here under 20%. I usually hang mine on their stems with all fans and sugar leaves trimmed so I only need to trim the buds off for 24-36 hours at the peak of low RH and high temps and jar. Then I burped them once or twice a day. If they were really moist I'd turn them out into a paper shopping bag for a day sometimes two. The hay smell should off gas as the chlorophyll is metabolized.

She's the sweetest hen, was afraid my wife might keep it.
Jungledrums (community Facebook page) looked for her home, came up dry.
Animal Control says he's doesn't want it, no one ever calls for recovered chickens and didn't want to get stuck with it.
I've seen the bird few times across the street, think it's owners live in a wooded lot back there.
We let it go this morning, she headed that way.

I know my wife would have. She found a mantis egg/cocoon on our plant this morning and wants to keep the little mantises and feed them meal worms and crickets. She’ll nurse anything back to health, cute but a pain in the ass some times.I would have

@DCcan she looks like a barred rock. Some of the smarter of the stupid chicken varieties.....and one of my favorites. Definitely a good layer and very friendly, more like a pet. We had a few that I liked.
One day a while back, a few guys from work came by to have beers and throw darts. The chickens where out as usual and one guy picked one up and pet her for awhile. Long story short.....later he reached in his pocket for a lighter and had a pocket full of chicken shit

Been there with overwintering mantis egg cases but I do release the babies in the spring!
