Blaze & Daze

After lunch today I visited my last work place. Saw an exhibition of art made from bedpans, vibrators and heating pads 'exploring the boundaries of chronic illness, pain and queer identities in Jewish life'. As usual, I got lost in critiquing my successor's stategies for installation, lol.20240222_131513.jpg20240222_131548.jpg20240222_131124.jpg20240222_131531.jpg

The box makes sense, but I don't get the heating pad.
They are a repeating motif. The two brothers suffer from an autoimmune disorder that causes chronic pain, so heating pads are in constant use (everything is plugged in and turned on). Contemporary art is weird and I've spent decades around it. But when we were designing that space, I warned everybody we needed a honed finish on the terrazzo floor but my boss liked the polished look. It was a terrible choice, I can't stand all the light reflections, it's very distracting.
