Yeah I see some growers use it with coco and some don't. I wonder if it really does help with root grow.I stopped using perlite. It's so expensive for something that weighs so little. Some hardware stores will have a few coco bricks near the soil, usually cheap too. Check the corners
I buy from this place. $40 for 4 cu. ft. They are great for all kinds of growing gardening stuff. They have coco as well. Looks like they are expanding into hydroponics. I used to grow 5 gallon hempy buckets 100% perlite. It was a fun style of growing but perlite is harder to clean and reuse than other media so I quit.View attachment 5295143
$33.33 at Home Depot for 2 bags...EXACT same item at Amazon, for only 1 bag $39.99 Amazon is more than double the price.

Fox farm coco loco? This is what I grow in, has all kinds of good stuff like bat shit. Last time I picked some up it was about $20 for 3 CF.
"25-35% coco fiber, perlite, aged forest products, sphagnum peat moss, coco chips, fish bone meal, basalt, bat guano, dolomite (PH adjuster) feather meal, kelp meal, gypsum."
Seems to work OK.
I'm stoked to see the difference between your soil and coco growsThanks, that's even better!! I bookmarked them for future use. They are currently OOS, plus I already ordered from Home depot.
I just read an article that sold me on the benefits of using perlite with the coco.....and they were also talking about growing in straight perlite...
Coco Coir vs Perlite: Which is Best?
For plants, adding coco coir to existing garden soil might be beneficial. The coir will soften clay's texture, bringing a varied mix of fluid retention and organic drainage, decreasing waterlogging. This can also be achievedwww.ourendangeredworld.com
Now all I need to do is wait for everything to get here....and get my tent cleared out!

Me too!!I'm stoked to see the difference between your soil and coco grows
Do you have nutrients?
Probably epsom?I ordered Canna Coco bricks....6 of them, which will give me roughly 30 gallons of product, and then 15 gallons of course perlite. That will be my mix.
Me too!!
I have GH Flora series, Calmag, and most all of the add ons for the Flora series, which I know aren't necessary. I just mixed up a bucket for my outside gals to jumpstart them
What was the other thing someone told me to buy to go with the GH Flora for coco???
I use coco pith so I need perlite (xlg) If you have coir you won't need it but if you have pith I'd use it, ymmvYeah I see some growers use it with coco and some don't. I wonder if it really does help with root grow.
Maybe I'll try a few with and without perlite. Or at least research it more.
