Too late!
Bet it sounds awesomeThe creek splits my 7 acres in half. Probably 1500 ft of frontage or more. Talk about a living, ever-changing creature. I've seen quite a few places that could be their home...
Same bridge...different flows. Just like life.

I'm counting the days until the nights are warm enough to open the windows. Our bedroom is fairly noisy but if you sleep in the sunroom you can hardly tell you are inside the house. It's like going camping without going anywhere. The only time it's quiet here is in deep Winter when it snows heavily. So much for that stuff this year. We had a few weeks where it was quiet but we're in awaken mode now...2 months early. Yikes.Bet it sounds awesome
I have a similar property and right before sunrise looking through a thermal scope it’s insane how many critters are running around that I rarely if ever see with the naked eye. It is nice my dog has no interest in dog food. The creek splits my 7 acres in half. Probably 1500 ft of frontage or more. Talk about a living, ever-changing creature. Sounds pretty idyllic.I'm counting the days until the nights are warm enough to open the windows. Very interesting. I've been lucky to have seen one close. Very cool.On a lighter note... (sorry...it's life here)
In the "you learn something new everyday" Dept. (hopefully...LOL) Sitting here just now...I see movement out of the corner of my eye...cruising down the creek bank. Wow.
Always thought this was a ferret...but never took the time to actually know what it is. Evidently it's an ermine...a relative to the weasel... and it changes from grey/brown in Summer to White in Winter. I've seen these in my years in Vail on the ski slopes...but again...never investigated further to know what it was.

They do kill, just to kill. Very interesting animal.i won't show this to my chickens. LOL
one of my farmer friends had 65 chickens killed in ONE NIGHT by a weasel. got into his barn where he kept the girls and took every last one of them out. zach said it was a complete bloodbath, and none of them were really even eaten. the weasel was just killing for sport and out of instinct. of all the animals that i worry about, a weasel is the only one that i actually fear.
...but man, he's so cuuuuute! i just wanna put him in my shirt pocket and feed him cheerios out of my hand.
Just had one pass behind us about 30' away a couple hours ago in the sugar woods. My buddy must have spooked it and it ran right behind me and my boy.We get a lot of fishers around by me.
It is for us...but we laugh that we believe that most folks couldn't take the isolation and lack of amenities in the area. "Town" is only on the map because of the Post Office. It's basically 2 campgrounds...an uber small liquor store and a beauty shop....and that's it.Sounds pretty idyllic.
The “big” town 10 miles away has a population of 600. A gas station, small grocery store and 6 bars with some churches sprinkled in.It is for us...but we laugh that we believe that most folks couldn't take the isolation and lack of amenities in the area. With mountains like that and the awesome brook and to be able to grow as much as you want and the scenery that's something special,I get it 100% As long as you got electricity and can grow food got everything you need.It is for us...but we laugh that we believe that most folks couldn't take the isolation and lack of amenities in the area. I won't drop into the sad again...but to capture it all in a nutshell...we spent 4 years unraveling our world to be able to come here and we felt as if our son lead us to this place via a series of happenings. (I no longer say "coincidences") I have a tattoo on my leg that >is< those peaks that is a mock up of the glassblowing logo/moniker he created a few years before he passed to mark his pieces. When we asked "why the peaks?" He said "I don't know why but I know it will make sense someday".With mountains like that and the awesome brook and to be able to grow as much as you want and the scenery that's something special,I get it 100% As long as you got electricity and can grow food got everything you need.
Amazing story - very sorry for your loss also. When I turned onto this road and that view opened up...I had to pull over...cus..yeah...it all started to make sense.
