Never really did any serious attempts at cloning until very recently. Everyone says just take a cutting, stick it in water and 2 weeks later you'll have roots. Doesn't seem to work that way for me. Only tried a couple times and have already accepted failure. I suck at seedlings and manage to botch cloning. Some days I wonder why I even keep growing. I should have accidentally learned something by now.

Try rapid rooters. Or a solo cup of pro mix or equivalent.

I actually picked up a knockoff Aerogarden and some Rapid Rooters a couple of months ago, thinking it might make getting seeds going more idiot proof. Nope. The roots never seem to actually make it all the way through the RRs for me. Even when I've tried them in soil, more or less the same thing. Roots go nowhere. For a reasonably bright person, it's vaguely infuriating to be so bad at this.

I myself use clone-x scrape about a 1/2 inch with a razor blade take a thin layer of the skin off and then split it and dunk in the clone-x and put in your medium of your choice and the best of luck to you :hump: :weed::bigjoint:

I'm thinking that cloning isn't really going to need to be much a part of my repertoire until I finally decide to start getting into my packs of reg seeds. Seems like rooting and flipping a cutting would be an effective way of determining sex without having to grow out a large plant.

Quick general coco growing question: at what age/size do you typically start multiple fertigations a day? Is there specific height or node county? Fairly arbitrary? Something you'd do fairly early on, while still in a 4" pot, or later on when it's been put into the final pot?

I treat like soil until the plant has 2 sets of real leaves. By that, I mean I just keep the coco moist around the plant. Always with feed though, never plain water.

Has anybody in here grown the ThugPug PBB f3? Thinking about picking up a pack but im always confused about the f1, f3, etc.... If my understanding is correct, f3 should have less variation of phenos And if I'm not necessarily looking to pheno hunt, I would assume the breeder made the f3 with 2 plants that had traits they were looking for. Am I in the ballpark with that assessment?

Yup If not in a cloner, i always scrape some girth off on opposing sides before dipping in clonex. But never split. Fucking clonex though. I can root a popsicle stick with that shit. Proof that I did just that at least once:

Cool, man. Thanks. After previous disasters in a medium I've been using for years, they're looking surprisingly decent to me for something I've never tried before. Could be worse, at the very least.
My goto with starting beans is i poke the bean down about a 1/2” into the hole of a plug and top the hole off with a little coco or watever. Keep an eye on that dirt you put in the hole and only spray a little water on the dirt if it dries out. But other than that, i’d say the top thing you need to worry about with germinating that way AND cloning in plugs or cubes is temperature.
Put the tray somewhere where when you pick up and are holding a plug it should feel luke warm. Not cold not hot. And i hate heating mats. Temp is the biggest factor IMO. I achieve the perfect temp by putting trays in a room around 82-83F

Not sure, but I think there may be something very wrong with you, in the best possible way.

Ugh. Pop 1 Ambien, 3 xanax, 2 belts of Jagermeister, crash at 2AM and still up by 6AM. Maybe smoking crack would be a better sleep aid. Good morning to everyone else who's awake, but don't want to be.
