I defiantly have 2 different phenotypes. There are 2 that dont look like the other 3,I noticed it probably around day 10-15.These 2 started out shorter during veg and continue to be shorter then the other 3.These 2 also are lighter in color and much thinner leaves.Does this mean I will get 2 different highs off these 2 different kinds of blackjack???
That would be cool if i did.

Yesterday when i took a plant out to take pics,i didnt move the light up and caught the top of the plant on the light and singed it.God do I feel awful for hurting my girl.A bit of new growth and a few fingers of mature leaves got touched. The plants are so bushy now.Looking real good, still new growth everyday. The smaller ones are catching up to the bigger ones in height.I don't think this strain is real good with topping, just my newbie opinion.

Hi Grow2Smoke, nice journal you got going here, sorry for being a bit late to join in the fun. I saw you on Unity's thread and thought I'd stop by for a cuppa tea and a wee read....training in a while so not smoking yet today...

I have also just got some BlackJack and germed one of the seeds, it's now about 2 weeks from seed and coming along. Interesting that you say it's not good for topping. In that case I may just use LST'ing to get the bushy effect going on my one.

I noticed you were considering growing different strains, personally I have a whole candy shop going at the moment (with high - very high hopes for all of them) - Headband, Cali Orange, OG Kush, a couple of mystery clones that I will reveal later, Mango, New York47, and of course the BlackJack!!) I am growing vertically so I am not too bothered about different heights of the plants (something you may want to think about) And for finishing, well I have a small veg space so again that's not an issue.

Sub'd in now and looking forward to seeing your girls developing into fine ladies.

Peace, DST

nice to have you DST.I just feed the girls, and as usual,i just sit there staring at them just in disbelief on how this is going.I have never tried growing before,so I'm pretty proud of my girls.I've read alot of strains on people making so much out of it even heard alot saying you need a phd in botany, lol .I have had no problems so far.I just mix the nutes into the water like the direction says, and water when needed.Thats about it really.I spend alot of time looking at my girls ,and I like to spray them down to give them that wet sexy look.I rotate the pots everyday as to give the side lighting i have to 3 out of the 5 everyday.I also spin the pots a quarter turn a few times a day.Not real sure if any of that does anything, but i like to be hands on.My hands on approach hurt me yesterday when i singed the top of 1 of the girls when i took her out for a pic and didnt raise the light first.Nothing serious, but a lesson learned.Today was the first day i used the big bud.I used it at 1/2 strength as thursday it goes to full strength for the start of week 2 in flower.Waiting on my co2 set up,its a cheapie, but should work for a small grow tent.Ill take pics of it when I get it.I'll tell you one thing with these black jacks.I've seen alot of pics of plants under 4 weeks in veg,and most wont look like the black jack, very short, very bushy. You cant see inside of the plant where the main stem is,its nothing but green.

You know Grow2Smoke1, like you say, this is not rocket science. It can be taken up a few notches for sure, but it's something that's been happening for 100's of years. Although even after man discovered how to grow crops, there are still times when we eat each other, lol. I am totally for keeping principles simple, and of course giving love and care to those girls. Just by being with them you are helping them grow. We are after all, living breathing CO2 machines as well!! I think turning would be a good thing, don't think it will do them any harm. After all, the sun moves duting the day. My friend was actually talking about tongue and grooving two bits of mdf in a cirle, then ball bearings put into the tongue and groove to give you a turning tray for your plants...
Yup, i sure am looking forward to seeing my girl grow up. I got them from Sweet Seeds, femmed. I have only one seed on the go though. I'll keep the others for future grows. Interesting to also read about your different phenotypes. I got different Headband phenos from the seeds I picked up. One set was more Sour and the other more Kush flavoured. But still with unique tastes, and even efffect. So will also be cool to see if the buds do actually turn out different with your lot.

Stay easy china.

rotated the pots, sprayed them down with nute spray. The fingers of the leaves that touched the light have yellowed,no big deal, about 8 fingers total. They seem to be getting more bushier then taller so far.I saw a big difference in them after the 36 hours of darkness, since then, its mostly side growth.I think i did mention earlier that the 2 smallest plants(same pheno)have caught up to the other 3.They are all about 11"

DST,im sooo jealous you have all those flavors.I havent tasted much dank in the past 10 years, mostly swag or commercial crap for me.I so want to try a few different strains out at once so I have a variety to choose from.So dam hard to narrow it down.I really want to explore the different tastes out there.

ok so very confused now,the plants look great, and today i got my 2nd ph tester.this one is digital.I tested my tap water and it said 7.3
Then i mixed up a batch of nute water and tested that at 4.0.I was pretty shocked at 4.0,would my plants be green and healthy with a 4.0 ph for nute water???????
I thought the nute water should be around 6.2-6.8 for soil, and i'm at 4.0.So I don't get it,dont know if i should raise it with baking soda or just leave green healthy plants alone.Maybe the tester sucks,I don't know,I just know I'm shocked that my nute water is ph 4.0 going in.What to do??????

yeh.. later stages the buds soak all the nutes up from the leaves to grow bigger budz

The thing with soil, is issues don't arise the minute they start happening. Your plants could look ok now, but if that meter is correct, at that low of a PH, you will have problems down the road here. Think I would get another meter to be sure first, though, with that large a discrepancy.

this is what i know,i started with tap water left out for a day and tested a gallon at 7.3 with nothing in it.Then i added 1tbs of big bloom and 2tsp of tiger bloom both at fox farm recommended feeding for week 1 of flowering.I then tested the water again after adding these 2 nutrients and it was 4.5,so just by adding my nutes its going down to the 4's.
I tried my diet coke and it read 3.3

lol...diet coke... alright, that's pretty damn low. You might wanna run a thread in the plant problems section, get more ideas - I can't honestly say if that much baking soda would be good for them or not, but maybe someone else can help you better with that - and I do agree, it needs to be addressed pretty quickly.

so i did a search online for what the ph of diet coke is,and it is indeed 3.3.so my meter is accurate.I took some baking soda 1/8 of a teaspoon to a gallon of nute water and raised the ph to 6.6.I then watered 1 plant fully and measured the run off at 6.1.

These look great. Just started my Journal, 1st time grow growing blackjack also. I'm at 19 days of flowering. Only 4 plants but real close in time frame as you. Let me know what you think.

well today i measured them, and they all are about 12" with one of the smaller ones thru veg now the leader at 13". I never imagined a 1 foot plant looking like this.I always imagined a skinny little thing at 1 foot.this is a bush.
All look green besides the few fingers i burned with the light.I check for white hairs and i see them starting for sure. Some nodes have up to 6,its on from here, more and more each day,and soon I hope the pics start showing those pretty white balls of hair
