Blackening of leaves.. pics..

Alright, I purchased some Hyponex potting soil, sphagnum peat moss and perlite, mixed it up in a couple 3 gallon containers for my plants and transplanted them into their own bucket.. I held off on watering it being how my moisture meter is actually reading fairly moist so I'll let em dry out for a day or two and water em again.. I actually bought some very high dollar scales to be more precise on waterings, hopefully it will help more than that lousy meter..

As for the blackening spots, It does not seem to be spreading, but I'm starting to see the rest of my plants slowly trying to yellow up, Would that be a sign of nute burn from the MG soil? I really didn't want to mess with the rootball when I transplanted them so It might have taken a little of the MG fert capsules with it, but hopefully that won't be a problem..

Just thought I'd update and try to further my knowledge as to my current problem with the yellowness

I'm not exactly sure what this stuff is that is on one of my plants leafs, It was on the bottom of it, but it's gone, now its in the middle of the leaf.... I looked on the underside of the leaf and it didn't show to have any bugs at all, not even with a magnifying glass.. Picture below..

Also, I'm using 24/7 lighting, I just recently switched that up from 18/6.. I really would like to know which is better, Cost of electricity is not a problem, some people say 24/7 allows you almost 2 more days of lighting per week and then some say it's a lot better to give 18/6..

Gah I really feel bad for dragging this out but I just want to make sure I do all this right the first time around so I don't have to ever ask questions like this again..

i agree with bg, it appears to be water spots. however, the yellowing has also gotten my attention; how often are you watering, and how much? seems to be a bit too wet. 70% rh could have something to do with that (i doubt it )

just to put it out there, mg soil is not the worst in the world; i've had halfway decent results with three different types of thiers... but it was a good idea to upgrade. next time, forget the peat moss, it has a ph of 5, and can sometime cause issues (never attempt to grow a plant in peat)

i use 24/0 lighting, after comparing both, i believe full light to be more beneficial; plants get bigger and bushier faster, transition to flower takes less time....

Oh dangit! Would it be a good idea to repot again and get rid of the peat moss? I added quite a bit of it, I'd say almost 30% peat moss and like 20% perlite and 50% of the soil itself... I have been religiously watering them every other day, I pretty much just dump a little water in and when it starts running out the bottom I stop, normally it just drips a little bit..

If you think it'd be a good idea to maybe transplant them again I will, I just did it a few hours ago and I can scratch the peatmoss, I have enough soil I think to redo it, if not I can buy more! I also added a little peat moss to the MG soil, along with perlite, is there a possibility it could be the peatmoss throwing off the ph of the soil?

I would hate to see my plants die due to the peatmoss, or even have problems from it..

I'm sure I could just dig it up and pull the rootball out intact since it really hasn't had enough time to develop roots in the new soil..

with only 30% peat, i think you'll be ok; we'll see. don't repot, let's wait and see what happens...

Alright, Thanks kp.. I'll try to keep everyone updated on what happens over the next week.

Alright so here's the update...

It's been about 3 days and I'm trying to figure out what's going on.. They seem to be growing faster than they were ever since I transplanted them but the yellowness is still growing even with the new fan leaves starting to develop, they're getting it as well..

Keep in mind also that the little brown spots you may see are from the water burn I do believe.. My other plant's that are about the same age have the same yellowing effect and they weren't burnt by water spills..

I guess I'll post some pictures, I really hope I can resolve this.. I haven't watered them since I transplanted them because the soil was pretty moist when I put it in the new pots...

Here are a few pictures, I can retake any of them if you guys need better views, I wasn't too sure how to take them so I only took 2, I could possibly get a really close up shot of the leaves if needed..

Erk! They're not happy chappies are they?

Those pots are too big for them really - much easier to control watering in smaller pots and you should be starting them in small pots and potting up to large pots to develop the rootball.

However, they're there now - but you need to water them in.

I guarantee they'll start looking better in a few days time as they readjust to their new environment and the roots start intaking water and nutrients.

Just be patient young Padawan

Yea, I knew it was too soon to transplant them but I did it anyways, Live and learn.. The rootball was pretty packed when I took them out of their original pots but as you said they probably weren't root bound.. The problem I'm noticing right now is that the soil mix I have, regular hyponex potting soil and Perlite is the fact that it stays wet for soooo long, it even seems like it's always muddy but I put a quite a bit of perlite in each bucket..

I guess I'll hit em with some water, and this week will be their 3rd week so I think I need to start looking into some fertilizer, unfortunately I'm gonna have to go with MG Houseplant food until my plastic is activated to buy some nutes online but I plan on going with foxfarm I believe..

No one in town really carries in other nutes aside from like Advanced Gardening nutes and schultz, so I really don't know what to do lol

Do you have any suggestions as to feeding them nutes or anything? The soil I have isn't anything like MG so shouldn't I start feeding them by the end of this week or so?

I want to make sure I do this properly being how they are already in bad condition I would hate to make it worse

Sorry to re-vist old topics and such but I wasn't too sure if I should have created a new post or just roll with this one, so I just decided to post here hehe..

Alright, The same day babygro told me to repot them into some different soil instead of miracle grow, I did.. I did that and it seemed to be pretty sucessfull up until recently..

I have a few pictures as to whats going on but yet again I'm not exactly sure what the problem is.. Nothing has changed regarding my setup, only the pot size and type of soil. I ended up going with Hyponex potting soil seeing how that's the only brand that is carried in my small town and the lack of credit card restrains me from purchasing online..

I started using the (8-6-7) Miracle Grow plant food for my plants as soon as they got old enough to give nutes..I've been giving it the recommended amount (mixing in gallon water jugs.)

I was feeding them nutes about twice a week, tuesdays and fridays mainly to start off, didn't want to cause any problems, then my old man decided to start watering them everyday with the fertilized water and after a few days they started looking like the pictures I will post below, I have a strong feeling it's nutrient burn just because of how often he was feeding them, but the leaves have little patchy yellow spots on them, and the lower leaves seem to be turning yellow more rapidly.

Anywho let me get onto the pictures..

The first two pictures, 004 and 005 Were taken on August 21st, and picture's 008 and 009 were taken on August 29th(today)..

So within a week time span that one plant has changed pretty drastically, any kind of advice would be great..

So what ever happened with this? I used Hyponex on a regular grow and the soil was great then I moved and started my first grow and like you not having alot of options as far as soil I bought it again and if fucking sucks. But I am having the same problem my plants were growing well then the bigger one started turning yellow from the bottom up and just keeps getting worse but seeing you have/had the same problem I'm going to go out and get new soil tomorrow and dump all that shit out.

Actually, I'm currently using hyponex and it's actually working quite well now, all my babies are actually about 3-4 foot tall and I'm getting ready to put them into flowering within the next week..

The plants seem to have went through quite a bit of shock and in turn it seemed to stunt their growth but they are actually kicking ass now, completely green, I'm using the MG fertilizer for my first grow but I plan on getting better quality nutes for my second grow if I end up doing it again..

I'm very impressed with the quality of my plants, I'll try to get some picture up if I can find my usb cord for my camera
