BlackBerry rDWC SCROG Grow

I will be starting up another grow soon using a recirculating DWC system. I plan on setting up a scrog on this go around since I am only growing a single plant, and I want to maximize my yields.

I am going to ditch the tent this time and convert one of my rooms in my basement into a grow room. Mylar will be put on the walls and ceiling of the room.

Lighting is going to be a 400W MH/HPS setup.
Nutrients will be General Hydroponics Grow, Micro, and Bloom.
Additives will be Cal-Mag, and Hydroguard from Botanicare.

My current grow is still underway, but I should be harvesting either this weekend or next weekend.
I plan to take a cutting from my mother plant some time in the next few days and that will signal the start of my new grow.

This will be the first time I am attempting to do a Scrog grow, so we will see how well I do.

Please feel free to post in this thread. I welcome any feedback.

This is going to be a fun grow, I can just feel it.

My next post in this thread will be of the cutting I take from the mother.
Cya then.

Ok, I have two cuttings in the bubble cloner and hopefully at least one of them will sprout some roots in the next week or so.

Water Type = RO
No nutrients added.
PPM = 36
pH = 5.76
Temperature = 69°F
Lighting = CFL Daylight 5000k. on an 18/6 cycle.

Still no roots on my cuttings. :( Any ideas that I could try to get them to root?. I am using a bubble clone method. It has been under a 18/6 schedule at a constant temperature of about 69F. I used a rooting hormone. Cut the clones at a 45 degree angle under water.

The leaves are just barely starting to turn yellow.

Nothing ever seems to happen quickly. The grow room is ready to start cooking.
The setup looks a bit odd in the hose area. This is because I want to reduce the chances of the return line getting clogged. I had a 1/2 inch return line and the roots kept finding their way in and flooding my basement. So this time I have 2 return lines. Both are 3/4 inch going back to my control bucket. This is equal to a return line of 1.5 inches. Hopefully I won't be mopping up my basement this go around.

As you can see in the pictures, I have the lattice setup. Though I am not going to use the entire surface area due to lighting restrictions. I only have one 400 watt ballast, not to mention if I added any more wattage, I think the spike in my electricity bill could draw some unwanted attention.

After I sell this grow off I plan to purchase a KIND LED light system. which should allow me to use all of the grow space I have. https://www.kindledgrowlights.com/products/k5-xl1000
I think that tomorrow after I wake up from my food coma, I will get the clone that I rooted into the setup and get this party started.

See you next update.

I was looking at Kind a while back and I have gotten off that wagon. I do think they are one of the better LED light companies but check out the DIY stuff. I have a thread of my own for the light I am going to make. It will save you a ton of money on a 1000w light.

She is in the bucket.

I am adding a new additive to this grow. GH SI-Armor. I am new to using this stuff and so far it is a bit of a learning curve. It throws the ph off by quite a bit. I have read a few recommendations when using it.
The first advice I've read is to add the silica first. Then adjust the ph back to around 5.5 and proceed to add the other nutrients afterwards.
The other advice I've read is to add the slica, then the nutrients and then adjust the ph to around 5.5.

Which is preferred?

She is slowly starting to liven up. I think because of how I rooted her, she is starting off a little rough. She gets a little bigger each day, and the roots should be poking through the net pot in the next few days. once that happens, I think she will take off quickly.

I have been incrementally increasing the ppm so that I don't shock her. By this time next week I should be at about 600 to 700 ppm.

It will probably be a while before I need to start training her for the scrog portion of the grow.

See you next update.

So this grow is getting off to a bad start already. I just had to flush and run copious amounts of concentrated H2O2 through my system to treat a pythium infection. I swear to freaking god no matter what I do, I just can't keep that shit from taking over. So now I have resorted to bi-weekly H2O2 injections in my system. I have even been using Hydro Guard to try and prevent problems like this from cropping up. Though, now that I think about it, I am not sure using those two together is doing me any good since the H2O2 just kills off the beneficial bacteria as well.

I am thinking about getting some Hygrozyme.
Will that stuff work on keeping pathogens from taking over or does it just keep organic waste from building up by digesting it?

your reservoirs look like the ones gh uses on the 8 site waterfarms

It was the single site starter kit. The reservoir and control bucket are great, but I found that the grow site bucket was not designed with growing cannabis in mind. So, I switched it out for a 5 Gallon bucket. The roots would just choke the site off and stunted the grow I feel.

I'm using close to the same setup except I'm not using the second res.or the float for now & im using the waterfarm you might have a good idea with the bucket next grow I'm gonna run 2 waterfarms & either chemdawg4 or gg#4 I have a single headband going now & I really like the way it grows but its prone to mold & it's a constant battle to keep it from advancing up above the scrog

So far mold has been the least of my concerns. I have to have a cool-mist humidifier going most of the day to keep my humidity in the high 20s. This time of year, the dryness is almost as bad as the middle of summer which is in the mid teens. Since this is my first scrog grow, I am sure I will suffer the same with keeping her under control. However, I look forward to the challenge, and hopefully the increase in yields.

She died young....... root rot got to her. I just spent the last 2 days sterilizing all my buckets, tubing and instruments. Hopefully the other clone I happen to still have on standby will fair better. She is ready to be put into the system as soon as I finishing cleaning the grow room.

Ok, my rDWC system has be thoroughly bleached, and anything that was alive in it should now be dead. I rinsed it several volumes over with RO water, and put my other clone into it last night. I started things off with the usual. CAL-MAG, Hydroguard, and nutrients. This time I am using an enzyme (Vegamatrix Prime-Zyme) to hopefully help prevent another break out.

System reset, and round two begins now.
