BlackBerry fire grow going wrong

1st question: can anyone identify the problem?

2nd: should i wait to flip to 12/12 or just go for it?

This is my 8th grow but my first in 8 years I have never had these kind of problems and I'm having a hard time figuring it out everything I researched seems like possibly manganese deficiency maybe you guys can help me out here's what I got going on.


Yellowing between veins and brown spots on top half of plants

4x8 grow tent only using 4x4 right now (i plan on expanding to entire tent next grow)

6 Blackberry fires in the 5th week of veg about to switch to 12/12

Cocotek with 5 gallon smartpots

1000 watt metal halide

Full foxfarm hydroponic line, Cal Mag, and I cut the super Thrive out in week three.

Feeding rural tap water pH test from 5.5 to 6 .0 I try to keep it at 5.8

Feeding temp 68°-70°

EC started out at .7 then move to 1.5 went as high as 2.0 and drop back down to 1.5 I flushed before and after 2.0 feeding

Feed every other day

Temperatures have ranged from 68 to 85 most of the time staying within range of 72 to 78

Humidity has been as low as 38 as high as 70 but most of the time from 40 to 50

I had the same issue with my first coco grow, I ran it thru to the end. I was feeding with the ph at 5.8... After looking at a couple ph charts and reading a couple hundred page thread of a coco master's journal on a different site, I believe it was ICmag or 420Mag, I decided to follow his suit and bumped my ph feedings to 6.3 just as he did. I don't use a cal mag supplement with every feed either. I use it just once when up potting to charge the coco. Keep my feeds rather low in ec. I'v had great results with feeding late veg and early to mid bloom at 1.2 to 1.4ec. Week 7 or 8 (Strain dependent of course) I max out at about 1.8ec then slowly reduce the ec during the last couple of weeks. I havent looked back and have not had a single issue since. Sorry, I wish I could direct you to that journal...

Im down to give it a go so i will lay off calmag, bump ph up, and drop ec a hair. Thanks i will post the results in a couple of weeks.

Oh ya 1 last thing would you wait to flip into flow when things start looking better or just start em now?

Personally I would flip and let her rip, but don't hold it against me if it goes down in flames but I doubt it will.

Can you provide pics under white light? You mentioned you flushed twice....exactly what did you do? No disrespect, but if it were me, I'd hold off on the flip until you can see you're correcting the issue, otherwise, if it's an Mg or Ca issue, which is what I suspect, it's going to be exasperated once you flip...and then you'll flip. Let us know the answers to the first two questions and go from there...

The first flush i put them in my tub, i ph a tote of water with sledhammer and i dumped about 3-5 gallons through them and let em drain.

Second flush i had my trellis net up so I filled my tote with pH water and sledgehammer and I dumped about two and a half gallons through them directly in the tent and soaked up all the runoff with towels and rang out into my tote

Just my two cents; I'd stop flushing. If you feel the need to 'flush' do it with a 25% feed solution. As opposed to soil, you can literally change your coco medium over night by flushing, especially with nutrient deficient or clean water, and that will cause you issues. I'm guessing your flush, though it satisfied your mind on keeping the excess salts at bay, is hurting you. At any rate, have you tried spraying your girls with Epsom Salt? They look extremely short on Mg. Foliar feeding them some Epsom is where I'd start. They will green right up if they do indeed need the Mg. Let us know.

The reason I flush the first time is because I seen this problem in the early stages so I hit him with the flush and then gave them the 2.0 EC the next day after a couple of days it was evident the 2.0 EC was way too heavy of a feed so in order not to burn my plants up I had to flush again I will go pick up some Epsom salt and give him a quick foliar spray to see if this problem improves quickly and if not I will try the other suggested fix thank you guys for at least giving me something different to try

Well what did I you do and how did it work out?

I started a foliar spray with a little calmag, and grow big. It brought them back but i had to quit while in flowering, so it came back. My next step was to go back over my notes and i found out ive been giving calmag 1ml per gallon when it should of been 1 ml per liter. They are finally coming back.

I've been reading about about this strain and it is a mix of blackberry kush and lady fire(can't find this strain anywhere). When reading about blackberry kush it was stated that it needs a heavy feeding of magnesium. I ran into a possible magnesium issue with my grow as well during flower. I also think mine was exacerbated by my led lights which may cause mag deficiencies it's self but debatable.

Anyways I upped my mag from 50ppm to 80ppm and all symptoms have stopped spreading.
