Black Trash Bag as a Humiditiy Dome?

Hey fellow cultivators,

Im currently in my first grow with 8 plants under a 400MH, I planted them four days ago, yesterday only one pot had a sprout (after successful germination of all 8) Now my question is, can I increase humidity for the seedlings by just covering them with a black garbage plastic bag? Will that be sufficient and not affect the light their getting? or is bad and might disrupt the cycle (raising the chances for a hermie) ?

I tried to use regular plastic wrappers, ontop but thought black would absorb heat and be better, but it is kindof disrupting the light the seedlings are getting so Im having second thoughts about this technique. any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers.

Seedlings don't need a humidity dome, just clones bro...Clones need a dome cause they don't have roots to absorb water, so they need the high humidity to absorb water through their leaves. Seedlings have roots that just take their water through the soil, so they should be just fine.

yeah but its about 40% humidity in my growroom, and I need to increase it for the plants to sprout successfully (and quickly for that matter). So any ideas to increase humidity without the use of a humidifier AND without using these black trash bags?

Merci.

You don't need humidity higher than 40% to sprout. You're good dude, trust. No need for a dome, just keep the soil slightly damp and if the seeds are good they'll grow, that's all you gotta do to sprout seeds, man.

If you need to increase your humidity for cheap, maybe a jar of water with a rag halfway submerged, with a fan blowing on it. but it's really not necessary

hmm i would guess you may have the light to close. 400w mh is real strong for germinated seeds. Keep them to the side of the light and a good 4 ft away below.

and like he say dont need any humidity for seeds. Be sure not to water them very much either.
