Howdy people,

I'm wondering if anyone is currently growing 'Lavender', or any other strains that produce Dark Red/Purple/Black leaves, if you are then please share some pictures here and also any 'requirements' to produce these Dark coloured Plants.

I love these 'Tropical' looking Strains but i have only smoked the Lavender, which was a beautiful tasting Weed albeit not that Strong.

I also have grown Cinnamon outdoors which produces 'Rusty' coloured leaves but not the Darkness i would like to grow, and smoke. ;)

Happy Growing. :leaf:

Mendo Purple produces a nice dark purple fan leaf and its a strong indica dominant strain. Ive read that change in color can occur from colder temps at night(under 70, above 60) but mostly its genetics i'd say.. GOODLUCK

I asked a very experienced grow about this and he said there are strains that naturally produce purple leaves/buds, like purple kush, grape ape and GDP, however he also said that you can make practically any strain turn purple by (like Bongrips420 said) lowering the temps below 70*F. Last year one of my buddies outdoor crops of Lambs Bread got a really late start and finishing in I believe early November with temps that dropped into the 50's and most of the plants and buds turned a beautiful purple with reddish/pink hues. The smell was great but the smoke was just OK, would have been much better if he'd gotten a earlier start, live and learn.

Discoloration on the leaves after 6 weeks of flower from nitrogen deficiency is very common. OP, that's discoloration from the cold. That's pretty extreme actually. How cold does it get at night? My plants don't ever look like that, although I would like them to. My room usually doesn't get below 65.
