Black dots on clones with dying apicals

Been seeing these dots on my clones, only this cultivar in particular, can’t seem to find anything online, hoping someone out there can help meE80F47A2-BA17-4A0A-828B-3A2842106E59.pngE80F47A2-BA17-4A0A-828B-3A2842106E59.pngBBB4E274-CE3E-4B92-AE62-7A0277DFF863.png4DCD2353-63D9-4294-8542-CFFA1FB24446.png07A01A10-20C5-45ED-B295-8FA3FD26C179.png

Are they spots or holes? They look like punctures in the picture and I would be thinking pests of some kind. Perhaps a stem borer, they drill into the stem and block the fluids so the stem and everything above the hole will rapidly die off.

I see both the hole/slit thing that @FirstCavApache64 sees and also the dark purple/reddish beads, it reminds me of guttation but I have only seen that on fully flowering, usually near harvest plants and the color is usually more brown or syrup colored..

I have an Alpine Guava plant that has something similar to this happen, on my plant they are like tree sap, I have not seen any bugs on her and assumed guttation as well but shes also not flowering and not dying off..

As far as why it's dying off I have no idea.. Whats your setup like for your clones? Specifically lighting and humidity?

It looks like someone else had a similar issue a decade or so ago but not the dying off issue.

Nice find. That looks like the same thing…. I don’t see that it was diagnosed tho? I have no idea BTW but when something is protruding like that it def needs to be solved. Not normal.

It also only matches the guttation (assuming that's what it is) but that should not cause the clone to die off.. Hopefully the op will reply back and let us know some more info to try to better help them

There are numerous cuts with this issue, I’m running more than 1 cultivar and only this cultivar is showing this issue. It’s on a lot of the clones with dying apicals and seems to show up after they have rooted, although I have seen the odd clone with a dot, that other wise looks healthy. They are little black/brown perfectly sphere shaped dots coming out of the plant, once they get to veg and have been topped of dying apical most are bouncing back, but this is not normal and would like to try and figure out what is going on. As for temp and humidity it’s pretty standard conditions (75-85f) and humid enough to for the domes to fog (80+ rh) they get burped twice daily and have t5 lighting, using stim root #2 for rooting hormone and use Californicus, cucumeris and orius insidiousos as ipm (obviously not at clone stage though) I think that covers most of the additional information that was requested. Thank you to everyone so far!

thats def not guttation, especially if your apical growth is dying off. I'd cut one open and inspect in the stem, last thing you want is it to infect the rest of your garden

I was searching around on this and couldn’t find much either. the closest I saw was a natural pink/red internal stem structure but your don’t have that. so guttation is not likely but I am way out over my skis here and no expert- just curious

I'm still going with guttation, the mother must have been high brix? Below is another mentioning of the same issue minus the one hole and dying off issue from the op.

I am wondering if the dying off is from the rooting hormone used, "stim root #2 ", I am not familiar with this product and cannot find any info regarding using it with cannabis. It mentions being 'Ideal for rooting semi-hardwood plants, and easy to propagate evergreens such as Berberis, Briar, Euonymus, Clematis, Cydonia, Currant, Spiraea, Gooseberry, Dogwood, Rubber Plant, and Viburnum. ' I have also read too much or too strong of a rooting hormone can be detrimental to the plants health, maybe this rooting hormone is too strong?

OP have you used stim root #2 before on cannabis?

Yes been using stim root #2 since I started and use it across all cultivars I clone but only this one in particular is having this issue. The stem on the inside looks healthy as far as I can tell, but I only had a 40x loop and my phone camera to use to zoom, once they got veg and the dying apical it remove via topping the plants are completely fine

Guttation happens on leaves not along the stem and it doesnt results in dying apical growth. I experience guttation all the time where im at because of high humidity. Could be the concentration of IBA in the stim root#2 is too high, IBA is toxic in higher concentrations.

You didn’t give them any bloom nutes before the tops died off or anything like that?
happy to hear they’re good after topping but still weird

I thought guttation can come from anywhere on the plant from what I’ve read. I had the same thing as the op come from my alpine guava plant as far as the dots on the stem but mine wasn’t a cut, they’re sticky and sweet which is why I always assumed they were guttation
