I have a Haze 2 auto growing and it has been going really well, put on 20cm in about 7 days!!! It has stretched out to about 50cm now. The tops are starting to put out the pistils and it is starting to smell nice, I transplanted it a few days before it started to put out hairs and now on the lower nodes I have noticed abut 4 male looking flowers....I have cut the branches off which they were on and was just wondering if that will stop anymore balls coming out, I only have a couple of plants and I dont want to waste this beauty. What are peoples experiences with this? Has anyone had much success with this or should I just not risk the other plants? I have 3 in a very small space, all autos and different strains.

Its just started to flower, pre-flowers are out...
Well how many more weeks until its done. Seeds take about three weeks to start forming once pollen spreads through the room. Also, how full blown are the hermed buds? Some herms will just spread out with sacs everywhere making the buds pretty much unsmokable while seeding everything else, (id cull these), others have a couple balls, id pick these off). If your sure you got to them in time to not have a sac open youre safe either way. But if you have four weeks left youll probably have some hard seeds. Personally id pick the seeds out and hold on to your smoke if the herm is only a few bananas or one or two balls, or if one of them already opened ;) if its full out gettin wild in there id kill it.

It has probably 3-4 weeks left of budding, they just started...I reckon I shocked the plant by transplanting it just before it started flowering. The ball are minute, I have looked through a magnifine glass and I could see a ball each side of the node with a tiny stem attaching it too the node.

Does anyone have photos of very early calyx growth on here? I am sure if they come up firstly looking like the sharp end of a piece of grass and not as balls then become the pear shape.

I do know what male and female flowers look like, was just wondering peoples opinions on hermies....can they just have isolated male organs that dont spread? Or does the whole plant usually get affected?

I think you are likely looking at calyxs as described above. Do they have 2 little hairs coming out like female calyxs?

The hermies I have had had "male organs" forming in just a few spots. Just scrape them off and everything should be good. They don't grow back.

Just never breed a hermie.

Yea, you can have just a few branches with male parts. I've used a product called Florel with success, but I wouldn't stake your whole garden on it, I only used it once. It's a hormone suppressant that will make a plant not bear fruit, which is what male parts are. I had some bagseed I liked but when I flipped the ladies they showed lots of balls. I just segregated and finished them out for the oil ( and about 200 unstable seeds lol) but the clones from them I kept for a project with this stuff and they all (6 total) were harvested without a single seed, so make of that what you will....

For sure you finish them unless you already have sufficient levels of smoke, have no interest in hash and you already have plants to replace them with in flower. Remove the male parts with your fingers and to remind you again a spray bottle with water is a great tool for a burst open pod sac because water is unfriendly to the process and it also knocks them out of the air. We don't pick pollen sacks off with the fans on for obvious reasons. I had this happen with my first grow 1 of 4 plants hermied and I had very little seeds in the 3 unaffected plants but I did have seeds on my hermie in a few areas kinda heavily. If those plants hermie'd on you easily the pheono is garbage don't bother with the seeds. The smoke minus those seeds got me high until my next harvest though and I did end up smoking every gram of that smoke.

Thanks Guy. Never heard of this stuff AND learned something today. This doesn't happen too often. :bigjoint:

Really? Cool, I actually cut the branches off they were one and the rest of the pant is healthy...it had awesome foliage growth and two branches have quickly taken their place.
