Just wondering what you guys think is better for a indoor setup,I manged to flower 6 plants under a 400 watthps last harvest and got about 5-6 ounces

This harvest im doing big plants under 2 400 watt lights ,And I can only fit 3 big plants and 2 little ones under both light,WTF

So my Q is what do you guys think is better

3 bigger plants under 2-400 watt lights

or 12 smaller plants under 2-400 watt lights

400 watt lights are better for smaller plants, for larger plants you would want to add some supplemental lighting for the lower buds as a 400 only provides decent penetration for about 24 inches, but perfect for small plants. so my vote is for 12 smaller plants

Depends on the strains, how they are grown and how you set your lights up. With 2 lights you could always do a vertical grow so your plants grow around your lights. I'm curious about this as well, Right now I have a 430 hps and will be adding another at the end of the month. Have 4 plants that are turning into monsters and simply need more light. One is quad topped and hitting the 5 foot mark. Yield is looking to be great, if I had even 10 smaller plants it wouldn't come close, there's just so many damn budding sites! Personally I would say grow em big if your strain likes to grow that way to bulk up. If they are stalkier, smaller types then a bunch of smaller ones would probably be better. I mix mine up and have smaller ones in between the larger plants and tie the bigger ones down to get more light penetration to the smaller ones. It's looks like a mad jungle but it works

Lol, I'm in the same boat, except Mine's a 430! One plant is just over 6 feet tall now even though i'm tying her down in 3 spots. Running out of cfl's and pushing 700 watts total...damn I need another light!

If i had two 400's i would be looking to flower 10-12 plants in square 3 gallon buckets. I would veg for 5 weeks topping each using uncle bens method and trimming the bottom 1/3 off a few days before flipping the switch. Im no pro though.

I have ten foot ceiling's but I am a ittle nervous If worse came to worse I can always grow it at an angle across my room lmao im thinking about buying a 130 watt hps on craigslist its $80 but I think im goign to need it the biggest problem with these damn big plants is penetration.

400w definately works better for smaller plants. If you're going to be growing 5'+ tree's your going to need at least a 600w, and will still probably want to have some supplemental side lighting.
