Big Girls....how big?

Well I was doing some really small plant grows, but I'm trying something alittle different. I am growing big plants and see what kind of kolas I get. i already think i made a mistake to be honest, but I'm gonna finish this grow with these monsters anyway.

I got 18 Big Buds on a 4x4 drip table right now. They are in day 10 of flowering now. i got them on a 4x4 with a 1000 watts of HPS over them. I'm using The Advanced Nutrints line on a moderarly heavy schedule, I use everything on it except the tarantula and Piranha, and my temps are good, although i occasionally do get to the 84 degree mark on my canopy, when i add a 2nd 1000 to the room. My room exhausts 400 CFM thru a scrubber, and my intake is alittle less, but I like having a tiny bit of negative air pressure in there.

Ok so for week three i am putting 9 on a second 4x4 drip table. So it will be 9 to a table, with a1000w on each.As of right now the girs are at 30" to 25" tall at day 10, so they are pretty big, and I vegged them 18 days which is pretty long, as i get great veg results (or so I'm told, lol).

I did this with ten Bubble Gums and they started great but a bout with fungus larva, and spider mites cut my yield way, way down so I never got to see if bigger girls were better girls.


Ok so two big questions..

1) I think I want to get rid of some of the bullshit close to the bottom, how far up should I trim, and remember this isnt a normal trim, I'm on day 10 of 12/12!!

2) should I go with the 2 4x4s, and 2 1000s, or should I just put another 16-18 Big Buds on that table too? Basically what's better; 18 Big ass girls under two 1000s, or 36 big bitches under 2x 1000. I'm wondering if I just should get more plants and save the 4x4 for another batch.

OK well nobody posted.I actually kind of decided that despite their sizes I am going to keep all 18 under the one thousand. I trimmed them up about 5 inches each off the bottom of the mainstem.

I think what I am going to do is do 25 really tiny SOGed on my other table and just test for results. My 1000s are identical, as our my tables, the ventilation, everything. So I'll get some pictures up and i guess just make this thread into an experiment since I didnt get any input we'll just test each method for yield.

Yeah that was my instinct, but i hate doing actual shaping of the plant after I go 12/12.

Big Buds stretch a lot too, so I wonder, when some of you are saying lolipop, how far up would you go? They just started showing flowers this weekend, btw.I always like that!

Me and my roomate have only done dirt the past, and did everything old school, with dirt and all organic. (We did have some tatsy results though) Now I'm just trying to dial in drip system and my new room. These Big Buds are the third run in there.

I really want to get both 1000s fired up. I like perpetual, which is what I've been doing, but I , no real reason.want to just do 2000watt grows 6 a year. I just like having one batch vegging and one flowering, not real reason, lol.

hmmm .... most people say the bottom 1/3 of the plant ... but u can always leave more if u want ... i know somegrowers in r/l that they do this then harvest top cola and then let the lower ones go for 2more weeks or so to harden up .. idk .. everyonne usually finds their own little ways that they like doing im sure u are aware of this

yeah i hear you on the bottom third trim, the problem is that they just flowered, and man i hate chopping off all the little floweres!! So i trimmed up about 5', but i really got all the bullshit to about 7'. The only branches I left between 5-7 inches of the bottom of the mainstem were really good stalks. Big Bud will get some killer mid canopy buds with enough penetration (1000 watt hps). Shit we are always fucking around and trying new shit with our girls, aren't we?

ya man if i may suggest .. just let them go bro , and harvest tops then let the lower ones go for 2 weeks .. but see. i do not know if u r on a schedule, or w/e .. so .. hehe

BTW i have never grown big bud before(i have 3 seeds in solo cups right now, one has popped through the soil) how is it?

n finally friend, go check out my grow (my signature) and tell me what u think .. they all have bout 6weeks to go .. soo .. but n e who man ..

well, it has "curb apeal" it has the color, the smell, and the yield to make it a hit a lot growers for prolly the last 15 years. I found it to be hardy, but it gets big, and it seems alittle susscpetible to pests.
It is pretty good weed, i have the original Cali strain, the Cannibus Cup winner. It is not my choice to grow really, but it is a quality strain, and that's what my buddies had

Hey buddy, as far as your grow goes I would aim for 5 footers... The size rockwool cubes I noticed you were using are supposed to be able to support the root structure of 5 feet max. Do you grow from seeed every time?? If so, I would use one light for veging and another for flowering for the perpetual. And I'm not sure whether a bunch of little girls will yield more than a couple big ones as I normally grow em big. But you should experiment with your setup to see which works better. Oh, and if you want to plants taller than 5, just unwrap those cubes and fill the table with a bunch of hydroton, thats what I do and it works well, but I'm running an ebb flow so results could differ. Goodluck and hope some of this helps!

well I actually use a 400 MH for vegging. I was using the 400 MH and i was getting really good results, but I had 280 watts of CFLs and i tried them......man HID is the only real way to grow weed. i mean you can do some shit with Flouros if you have to, but anybody who actually prefers CFLs, is just being a dumb hippie, in my honest opinion, lol. Basically 280 watts kept them green and healthy, but compared to HID it was like watching them grow in slow motion. Before any old school hippies jump my shit on here, yes I know how to place them. I would have done better with my old 1996 70 watt MH street light!!

I'm going to cut 30 clones tomorrow morning and try to have them on the other table in 12/12 within 13 days. I'll just keep going with my perpetual. I just harvested 17 oz. from a 4x4 of Bubblegums, so it's not like I'm hurting for smoke!
