Big changes to the grow room.From CFL'S to side by side MH,HPS Pics

alright so I was perusing Craigslist the other day and came across an ad for a grow light and assorted pieces for short money so I decided to look into it. I met the gentleman and he has a used 150 Hps light magnetic ballast and reflector, new in box sun system 150MH light and a four inch blower fan. Plus some other stuff like jiffy pots ph up down. All for a cool $100. I had originally been growing under 4 T12's and 7 Cfls. Plants have been through hell, This is my first grow and ph has been all fucked up and my tap water is terrible apparently. When I moved the ladies into this new area I somehow lost my Ph drops and was just winging it for like a week, Which I have learned is a terrible idea. I have switched to distilled water and am adding cal-mag to it. The big girl got a dose of superthrive and is looks much better top is starting to get its perk back. The small one I just flushed with ph'd water and next feeding will get superthrive as well. These fuckers put out a shit ton of heat I am going to have to get a portable A/C soon. With the door closed temps have gone as high as 86. Also going to get a filter shortly and attach it to the blower come flowering time, cant have my whole house reeking. Well anyways I figured since I changed lights I would start a new journal. Pics every two days or so

I dont have anything really lol. Have the 4in blower onto the lights themselves and have another fan just blowing around. Exhausting really isnt an option for me, no windows or outside access besides the door, and I dont own the place no I really cant be cutting and pasting things together. Going to pick up a portable A/C at the end of the week, should take care of temps. Till then I leave the door open for a couple hours at a time. Hoping for ladies,but its bagseed so no idea. Have some NL Fem beans waiting to go into the ground, This was kinda like a test run to see how it worked, Never attempted to grow anything ever prior to this. Gonna flower these at the latest March 1st.

i hear ya man. Ive got some ?'s tho.im switchin to 250hps after outdoor.is the ballast&everythang all in the hood?

On the HPS I have it is not. If you look in the pic of the lights the one on the right has a wire running down it into the ballast. My MH light is all self contained I believe you can get the 250 like that let me look around.

Never used this site or anything but they have pics of my light and it looks like all of em have the ballast enclosed

I got lumatek 250w ballast.just deciding on a reflector or aircooled hood.i wana mount ballast outside grow cab to lessen the heat tho.

Prolly a good idea. I bet the big ones put off some serious heat. This little dinky ballast I have doesnt seem to do much of anything heat wise

im really new to the hps thing.my ballast size of car amp,just looks cooler than an amp! I guess if its air cooled or not its called a reflector?

i think of what u have as a hood? & the ones that are just winged pc.of metal,a reflector.but i guess its justa a reflector. I ask this cuz if u dont word it right,no one will help.

Yah makes sense to me. I would say that the one with the ballast on the floor is a reflector and the one with everything built in as "an all in one lol". I myself am new to these,came across a good deal and scooped em up

So yours doesnt have openings to hook up to fan/ducting?

No opening's cotton, I guess they dont get hot enough to need air cooled hoods. Plants are looking much better compared to a couple days ago, was half tempted to say fuck it and germ my NL beans. I guess a combination of right ph and new lights all the new growth is looking nice and perky. Lil one will be getting nutes and cal mag with a drop of superthrive today, big one had it a couple days ago.

I think I figured out why my plants got pissed at me hahaha. Im such a noob. so your not supposed to save nute water? mix it pour it dump the leftover right? I have been saving mine think that was the problem any idea

Kotton if you really want a setup i'd scour craigslist. Especially being legal over there theres prolly tons of the stuff for your area. I got all that crap for $100 lol

Tru dat- im just short the hood/reflector. When the tax chk gets here,ill purchase a hood.im still gonna finish this grow out w/myt12's&cfls.
