Bhut Jolokia and Purple Beauty Bell Peppers (400w HPS+soilless/organic)

Yesterday I finally got my first pepper seedlings transplanted into 1-quart containers. The 2 on the right are Purple Beauty bell peppers, and the other 4 are Giant Bhut Jolokia aka Ghost Chilis. The Purple Beauties were started from seed on 10/5 and took about 10 days to sprout. The Bhut's were planted on 10/9 and took about 15 days. They were all started under a T8 fluoro (24/0) in a seed starting tray with a hood on top and a heating pad beneath. I intend to grow 4 mature plants in 5-gallon buckets, so only the strongest 4 will survive! In the next couple weeks, once these have developed some real root systems, I'll be moving them under a 400w HPS. I'm estimating I'll keep their photoperiod at 18/6 all the way to harvest. I'll try to remember to keep this thing updated as these progress.

I'm a pepper fanatic man! These are gonna get all the same care that MJ would. All General Organics nutes in a peat moss/perlite/vermiculite/aged pine bark mix. I just wish my Chocolate Habanero seeds would have germed... Got seeds for lots of other exotic varieties to try out next time though. I'm guessing I'll start seeing fruits on these in 3 months or so.

I lost one of the 2 Purple Beauties to root rot, but still have the other one and all 4 Bhut's. They've been under 400w HPS(18/6) for about a week now, and they're about to get their first real feeding in another day or two. They'll get some General Organics BioRoot, a half dose of Grow with an equal part CaMg, and probably a dash of some good old-fashioned bone meal. Once these get big enough to need transplanting (a couple months from now), I'll probably select a Ghost Pepper plant to give away to a friend, leaving me with 3 Ghosts and 1 Purple Beauty. If anyone else likes to grow vegetables indoors, advice is always appreciated.

Clone thost ghost chili plants, you could probably sell them somewhere, usually all you can find are seeds online. Just a thought

I soaked all 12 of my Ghost Chili seeds in a plastic dixie cup of water for 24 hrs, then sowed them in Foxfarm's Light Warrior seed starter mix. I then placed the two 6-packs into one of those generic seed starter domes, with a heating pad ($21 at hydro store) beneath to maintain humidity and soil temp, and kept them under a single T8 fluoro ($20 at hardware store) at 24/0. It took me 3 weeks to even see sprouts, and I've now got 4 small Ghost Chili plants in 5 gallon buckets under 400w HPS at 16/8. Pepper seeds are pretty tough to germinate indoors, and I've heard of Bhut jolokias taking up to 2 months, so don't give up on your seeds and toss them prematurely! I also tried to germinate 12 Chocolate habaneros which I ordered from the same source as my Bhut's, and didn't get a single sprout.

I got another pepper to try with. They're getting cold stratified now. Will soak in water this time. Sucks about your habineros
