Exactly. We manipulate the pressure to keep the butane liquid, and we manipulate the temp of the butane/cannabis solution to return the butane to gaseous state for recovery.

But you do not have to manipulate the temp its already being done by nature , just extract in an open container and then let it transfer back into a high pressure container . Why not ?

You do if you don't want to be there all day recovering solvent.

The colder the better, this is my favorite time of year for blasting and winterizing.

Exactly, some of the professional extraction companies in Colorado i've been reading about actually cryo-freeze tubes and material before they blast.

Closed systems?

I've seen closed systems pack dry ice around the reaction chamber.

No, the were actually open. It was a High Times article from a few months ago.

Seems like recovery of 'tane would be nil. Lots of solvent left behind unless they heat it all back up post flood/soak. Seems like a lot of trouble for very little benefit.
