Bez's 2X2 LED + Fluorescent Closet Grow

Starting late into Maui Grow. Bought from Seedsman and think these Maui are Nirvana seeds. Also, have a freebie AK-48 in background (approx 2 weeks at last pics-Mosca seed) Pics start at 4 weeks into 12/12 on Maui. Did 30 days veg at 24hr light.

Closet is slightly larger than 2 feet across and walls have been painted with elastomeric paint.

All my organic soil and additives were purchased at Walmart. I mix 50/50 on two types of organic soil plus 1/3 perlite and add extra bonemeal, (birdcrap and feathers etc.) bloom booster, worm castings, Epsom salt, etc. I haven't fined tuned to exact proportions just approximate to amount of soil mixed.

Here are clone pics to go into 12/12 when Maui done in 2-3 weeks. 3 Maui and 2 AK-48. Also pics of Maui in small pot that has two branches for seeds from pollen.1 White Widow branch and 1 Blue Moon branch giving me Maui + White Widow and Maui + Blue Moon seeds. Also, shown here is AK-48 at current size. It also has two lower branches just pollinated this morning with White Widow and Blue Moon.

I write initials on tiny piece of paper and tape that to a twist tie that is loosely wrapped around lower branch that is pollinated. Otherwise would never remember.

Many go to elaborate steps to pollinate but have found myself that as long as no wind, or even the slightest breeze, or air movement then can easily flick a paint brush so pollen is directed downwards and then after pollination apply a fan away from grow closet with room closed off by door and hold in front of fan so any pollen blows away from the rest of the plant. Then place back in grow room. Any loose pollen has already been blown off by fan before placing back in grow closet.

Currently have many seeds from many cool strains that I have crossed this way with little to none seeds elsewhere on plant (also none on other plants).

Transplanted 2 AK-48 clones today. I just put my cuttings in pre-mixed seed soil and takes weeks but finally upwards growth.

I am super big, "fan", of fans on my grow from seedling to finish. Here is a pic of fan I use in grow closet. And black one is for clone cabinet. I have the fan (in closet) on a timer (now set for 1/2 hour every two hours at 24hr...in Winter was every 3 hours and if high humidity from raining then even more).

Increased transpiration from a fan and higher temps (around 90 degrees) allows the plant to take up more water and by doing so, "more nutrients". More nutrients and larger/stronger stems translates to increased size of buds.

Much wind in nature and see many pics of plants here that need a fan and higher temps.

The closet fan (chrome one) has been in use now for over 6 months everyday and can be found at Global (see center of fan) online or can get same fan at about same price from Ace Hardware online. Pushes much air even at low setting so I always have a slight angle against wall and upwards etc. as direct is too much until by late in flower they are used to it.

I also turn my plants daily to avoid wind damage and better lighting.

6 1/2 week update!: Transplanted a root-bound clone into large pot and tied pulling in colas/stalks so not smashed against wall on one Maui and the AK-48 (used green yarn...couldn't find my garden twine). Thought these Maui would finish in 6-7 weeks but realize now more like 9-11 (like states on Seedsman site for Nirvana Maui). Yikes....almost out of White Widow to smoke!

edit: noticed AK-48 two days over 4 weeks

Correction: Looked up AK-48 and is a famous strain from Nirvana (mentioned Mosca above)....love Nirvana seeds!

Beginning of week 7 for Maui and and week 5 for AK-48 (my first auto....wow grows quick)

And decided to chuck one Maui clone and put one Maui clone in giant 6 gal pot (cropped for 4 colas-back left corner just put in 12/12 few days ago). So then when two Maui done in few weeks will put two AK-48 clones (cropped for 4 colas) in 4 gal pots and likely will chuck last Maui clone in veg cabinet.

AK-48 grows so fast developed slight calcium deficiency on upper leaves (see pic). Unbelievable growth in just last few days!

Day 52 flower Maui #2 tie off from weighty flailing....approx 2-3 weeks until harvest

so just under 8 weeks on Maui and just over 4 weeks on AK-48 and 7 days on Maui clone in big pot and pic of small 3 cola with two stalks seeded (one White Widow and other stalk WW+either Blue Moon or Bubblelicious)

thanks...unsure of at this time (don't even own a scale..lol)

Well, was hoping would have time for them to fill in more before amber but yesterday checked em and over 10% amber (about how I like em) so this morning before lights came on the big chop.

Other pic of Maui clone in big pot is 9 days in 12/12 (hoping for little larger size on this one) and AK-48 with bad calcium deficiency (may have cleared up).

AK-48 didn't realize it was an auto (just one seed in a bag with AK-48 sticker on it) until clones that had never been outside 24hr light started growing white hairs....so is likely cause for calcium deficiency as happened at stretch which an auto on 12/12 was quite significant (my first auto). Also, same soil mix as Maui, etc. with no problems so must be strain specific.

I'm hoping AK-48 will last another couple of weeks at least as seeded two stalks with two separate strains so should be mature seeds in few weeks. Maybe calcium deficiency done and can still salvage some buddage.

been high humidity here lately so will trim prior to hanging (usually wait several days) so more trim pics coming

so just topped AK-48 clone (now set for 4 colas) and waiting to top other AK clone some more

they will go in (timed hopefully) when AK in 12/12 finishes and will go in 4 gal pots with extra calcium (lol)

small seeded Maui didn't mark down when 12/12 but know it was about two weeks behind others chopped today

really pleased with my lights as nugs are rock hard...no air buds...not even lower ones

think I'll buy one of those cheap handheld and check my yield

What was a Maui clone put in 12/12 on 6/6 (10 days ago) is now just under 3 feet tall from floor and buddage has begun

AK has gone 180 degrees from calcium deficient crispy leaves to filling back in with normal growth (trimmed some bad leaves)

Still have small Maui seeded colas in back corner..(two weeks?)

I do have room for one AK clone but need for clone to grow some more and top some more on smaller clone so unsure when AK will go in 12/12

it is an auto I believe (indicated by white hairs on clones that have never seen less than 24hr light) and have no other place to grow it so will be a challenge dealing with stretch and calcium issue. Will keep in smaller 4 gal pot to help keep it small due to height restriction.

two days trimmed and hung now dry enough exterior of bud to paper bag em

paper bag depending upon local humidity will work for usually about 3-5 days before going into jars

I feel the exterior of bud for crispiness/dryness knowing that when put into jars with lid tight will cause the moisture deep inside the bud to get pulled out and re-soften outer exterior crunchy/dry part

the largest nugs (from tops of colas) will be separated when placed in jars as the burping schedule will be different for the giant buds then from much smaller buds (larger nugs will have jar with lid off for longer time then just a burp)
