Better to grow autos or go 12/12 from seed?

I am about to start new grow. I was wanting other growers opinions on which would be better. I was thinking of growing 4 autos inside a 32x32x60 tent or would it be a better idea to grow 4 plants 12/12 from seed?

Well for starters you can clone non autos so you can just keep pumping them out but before I go into detail of the pros and cons of each remember it's your grow your set up your needs you can make a better choice then anyone on here and no matter what you make the final choice

Thank you for the reply. I guess I should have asked which would yield better. Autos or 12/12 from seed.

autos are not as potent as 12/12 from seed
autos finish more quickly
usually 12/12 is a better yield but still depends on the strain and how it's grown and how well its grown
12/12 from clone is the way to go for more productive quick yield
Still variables tho for example 12/12 auto Ak vs reg ak 12/12 just grow no techniques probably would yeild the same potency would be lower from the auto the auto is technically crossed it's not pure bread but 4 auto Ak vs 4 Scrog Ak 12/12 the 12/12 would yeild far greater it's much more of a complex answer then you think because there is to many variables long story short tho 12/12 vs auto letting them do there own thing yeild speaking about the same

Like 420 said you can pump out buds from a photo period plant simply by taking cuttings and cloning them. I personally would prefer sativas or indicas over ruderalis but that's a personal choice.
Also I would never in my own setup ever start a plant at 12/12 from seed, there's a growth period and a flower period and a little thing called the circadian rhythm, which regulates rest, activity, growth, hormonal releases, flowering. There are studies showing a much higher incidence of hermaphrodites developing when you do this. I'm not telling you what to do just letting you know what may happenot if you do.
There are many here who would disagree and they are welcome to their opinion on this but mine is just do it how evolution intended. 16/8 Wait till 4th or 5th node and flip to 12/12 too easy. Good luck! Oh yeah you can do 12/12 from clone.

Why don't you want to veg the photosensitives for awhile? It sounds like you have height for them. (Why either auto or 12/12?).

ok thank you everyone. so photo plants, veg till 4th or 5th node, then flip to 12/12. I will be using a 32x32x60 tent. Any suggestions on what size light. Any suggestions on a nice strain to buy from seed? I am not looking for a huge yield, its more of a hobby grow for friends and family.

I like the one auto I've grown (multiple times) better than 12/12 from seed I did twice. The latter are lanky/stretchy/juvenile appearing. The auto was more like a bonzai version (form, mature appearance). I got 180-220g from a plant grown in a 2x2x4' tall space. I couldn't get that from a 12/12 from seed. I only got 20-30g from a plant (but, about 3-4 plants in a 2x2 space, because they were smaller/lankier.).

12/12 is fun though.

Hotdiggitysog has a nice journal on his 12-12 grow.


I'd go with an air cooled 600 or a nice led light if ya afford it for that size footprint.

400w hps will do 4 plants nicely as far as strain it's really more preference cool tubes i use one there is theory that it messes with light spectrum but no soild evedience and if it does not anuff to inhibit yeilds any
