me and a mate have 2 very similar bongs, he uses hot water..we'll get them nice and dirty, and ill make a video of cleanin it! he also has an acrylic, so i can shoot that aswell.

why? Because the lead would soak through painters skin---give them lead poisoning. Sanding the paint would get lead in the lungs---give them lead poisoning. Kids eating paint chips---getting lead poisoning. They knew how to make paint without lead---so why not?
