Saying they got the clone from Kyle is just a rumor Dutch Passion started to help sell seeds. As I understand it, DP's version is a bit different than Kyle's cut. They did get their SC genetics from Kyle if I'm not mistaken.
In fact, they've removed any, and all mentions of Kyle Kushman from their website.
They take strain names that are already established and use them to make they're bogus genetics sound appealing.
This has been discussed here on the forum many, many, times.
They have no consideration for the customers that they're misleading or a strain's original creator that they're saddling with a bad reputation.
Kyle originally received a clone from a grower in Bridgeport, Connecticut that smelled heavily of strawberries, and that became Strawberry Cough.
According to Kyle Kushman himself, Dutch Passion asked him to send them some seeds (not clones) of SC, back around 1991.
So Kyle had to cross SC with another strain to make the requested seeds, and that's what DP started with, seeds that were a cross of SC.
Then they bred those seeds with Sweet Tooth, to get what they're selling now as Strawberry Cough, which is such bullshit.
Kyle openly refers to the Dutch Passion version as not real SC and a bastardization.
If you don't believe me, would you believe Kyle Kushman?
He explains the whole DP debacle, starting at 8:30 minutes in and it goes till about 11:50.
Everything before 8:30 is him explaining where SC came from and how it was popularized.
