Best Strains to start with?

I am a complete newbie with anything having to do with growing marijuana; thus I joined RIU to learn. I will soon be growing about 3 - 6 plants, and I am in located in SoCal. My question is, what are some high yielding strains that are good for beginners to start off with? I plan on selling some to fund for more plants and more growing equipment. I have a few ideas for starters but I don't know if they are the best. Opinions please!

:::My Original Strain Ideas:::
Supreme Skunk or Super Skunk
Carmelicious
Big Bud (although I have heard it is not the highest quality)

...or I was just going to buy bagseed or something and hope for the best...:eyesmoke:

Indica and indica dominant hybrid strains are said to be easier to grow, faster growing, and better for beginners. i buy my seeds from nirvana seedbank. they are totally legit and discrete. check out the bubblicious, aurora indica, snow white, and wonder woman strains. they are all easy to grow and are all high yielding. i have never had any trouble with nirvana. they ship fast (usually about 10 days w credit card purchase) and their prices are excellent. all info on yields, flowering time, height of plant, etc. are all listed for all the different strains. peace

if u are serious about growing i would highly recommend taking a class. at the very minimum buy some books. ed rosenthals marijuana growers handbook, and jorge cervantes marijuana horticulture indoor/outdoor medical growers bible are excellent books w tons of info. peace

I agree ^ indica dominate strains are great to begin with. I would highly recommend anything from mandala like hashberry, beyond the brain, or mandala#1. All their genetics are landrace crossed so are very vigerous and hard to kill and yield like nothing else. plus they are very cool about contacting them with questions about their strains. everyone does it has free shipping right now, i believe, so you can get a pack for like 32 bucks shipped. you can also go with bagseed to save a buck but you never know what you will get and might be disappointed. they maybe not good genetics like having herm tendencies, or unreliable yields that will just piss you off. good luck and happy farming!

Bubblicious from nirvana is a good strain (running it right now) but if I have a mite find my rooms they go for her first! As of now my favorite strain to grow is pineapple express from G-13 labs. ( not the auto flower) very strong.. my cat ate every leaf off a clone when it was about 10 inches tall and it came back, and the yield is great! Begged one to about 24 inches and got over 10 whole ones when everything was dried.

imo you wanna go with something simple/easy to grow above everything else. just to get yourself use to basic growing tasks w/o having to worry about a plant thats sensitive to everything. you also don't wanna break the bank on beans for your first grow as its not going to come out as good as it could be so why bother spending $20 a bean for something comes out like a $5 bean you know?

My advice would any of the following:
Original Skunk #1 from seedsman seeds (attitudes website) are only $34 for a pack of regular beans or $35 for a pack of feminized seed
bonuses: pretty legendary genetics (acapulco gold and columbian gold are involved), easy to grow, good yielder, finishes early (7-8 weeks on avg imo) potent. a good combo of head/body high. overall a good choice for anyone and its from the original skunk #1 breeder.

Northern Lights (many breeders have this one as well but id suggest nirvanas). its also very affordable and very easy to grow. yields are good if grown right. indica dominant (finishes in 8-9 weeks).

(this one is out of left field but a strain i found to be VERY easy to grow)..White Berry from Paradise seeds.
This strain is a tad bit more expensive than the other two but its really worth it. its a cross of a ww and blueberry (two more legendary strains). trimming is a breeze. not nute sensitive. smells awesome, good bag appeal. good yielder. fast finish (only 50 days!). good combo of head and body high.

by the way: you'll want to stay away from sativa dominant strains when starting out. they generally are more picky on nutes and more sensitive to their environment.
