Best strains/smoke for anxiety?

I love to smoke but over the years I've developed some anxiety...always been a little on the high strung side. Anything too psychoactive just makes me paranoid as hell anymore. I'll occasionally run across something that gives me that laid back, relaxed, body buzz, but I want to know what I should be growing to accomplish this for my own personal stash. I'm assuming I need to stick to predominantly indica strains? Any in particular?

Kushes are not good strains for anxiety....in fact they can induce anxiety!!!
Kush strain intitially hit you hard and can be a little speedy and disorienting.....and can also create that "inner" dialouge which can make you mind race in thought....then it will make you calm and tired at the end!
Best thing i disovered for actual anxiety is the real Northern Lights#5.
It is strong and lasts long....but it comes on smooth and produces relaxation and a sense of well being without being tired!

I would like to make a pont on anxiety/depression vs stress!
Most marijuana strains can relieve stress....but most marijuana strains are not good for anxiety/depression!
These may seem like similar conditions....but in reality they are worlds apart!
So if you are suffering from anxiety/depression you must stear clear of varieties that hit hard, speedy, psycodelic, or makes one think too much!!!

Maple Leaf Indica and Grandaddy Purps. The GDP is kind of energizing though at first. The 'Kush" that I got at socal dispensaries was kind of a rush after you smoked and later got sedating. Not the best thing imo.

I am trying out Northern Lights, couple versions to see if that helps. Will be a few months to harvest.

I suffer from anxiety and am very familiar with the racing thoughts and "inner dialogue" that was mentioned. I am looking for a strain to help with the anxiety as well. I also suffer from severe pain and have 5 herniated discs and was wondering what (obviously different) strain would be good for that also. I am growing NL5xHaze right now and am hoping it will work for both of these symptoms.

it's a bitch finding the right strain for this affliction, been growing inside for 3 years
some plants will help, others won't
probably the one thing you can do is take a plant deep enough into flower
flower it long enough, and very few MJ strains will be anxious strains
this may mean maturing a plant, and revegging and running it again with a different flower time based upon your prior results
which can be a time consuming enterprise
