Best strain for new smoker?

So, I've tried maryjane a couple of times back in high school, but it didn't really do much for me. A friend tells me that it was most likely very low-grade ditch weed, and that I should try some decent stuff. Now, I live in a fairly small city in the South, in a state where they don't exactly look kindly on weed, and the only people I'm friends with are from work, and none smoke that I know of. So, I think if I want to try it, I'm going to have to grow my own, right off the bat. What seeds/strains should I start out with? I was thinking of placing an order for some Autofem types, because that seems like it would be the easiest and least amount of headaches, at least for the first time. I might try to do a stealth grow in my apartment with a few, and plant a few outdoors, guerilla. I think it should stay warm enough here for long enough to pull that off. What do y'all think?

Any kind of Indica. Indica will put you on your butt more but potent sativas can make you wig the fuck out :) guess it depends on what you want.

For a new smoker? "Anything". It's when tolerance sets in that getting picky becomes less of an option. Jmo.

ps I like wiggy sativas! cn

imo... purple indcas are easy to grow and 8-9 week flower...autos aren't too easy to grow from what i hear...and tend to be weaker...

Stick with indica strains with lower THC% then 15. Higher THC potency and lower CBD% is what contributes to anxiety for many. Most the seed banks where you buy the seeds will list the THC%. Not the only factor in starting out slow but the main one.

Blue Berry and Diesel are good ones if anxiety is your fear. Nebula is a good faster growing Sativa for anxiety. As for autos I have no idea.
