best strain for beginner with small grow room

I'd like some opions on seed banks and strains that give a good yield from a smaller plant. My grow box is going to be roughly 4'x3'x4'. I planned on using all cfl's for the 1st grow. will consist of 10 23w= 100w, Nat'l daylight for veg. and then for flower 10 23w 2500k (idk if that is considered warm light color). Any input on strains will be greatly appreciated, this is my last cfl box grow I'm getting a tent and some good HPS and MH and its on like Donkey Kong.

Northern Lights at nirvanashop.com is listed as a short plant. But 4x3x4 isn't all that small and with some lst'ing you could grow whatever you wanted. With CFL's you'll only get a tall plant if you don't keep the lights close enough, causing stretching. The length of time you let them stay in veg has the biggest impact on their final size.

A strain im growing now that has stayed pretty compact is TGA's Space Dawg.
Its potent as hell, gives a good yield and stays small.
TGA only dose reg seeds if you are looking for fem, DNA Genetics Snow Cap LA is another strain that may work for you.
It stays short and stocky gives a good yield and is pretty strong.
Attitude seed bank and Hemp Depot have always got my orders to me with no issues.

As far as Nirvana goes I stay away from them.
I popped 4 10pks from Nirvana (40 seeds) And didn't find even one plant I would call a keeper.
That my .02 for what its worth.

Thanks again Budfever I'm def going to stay away from Nirvana your not the 1st bad review I've heard and read about them. I def think I'll give TGA's Space Dawg a try, what kind of yield are you thinking? I'm going to start to flower at about 24". Tieing main branches to promote new growth and keeping them shorter is basically LST, correct?

Im only on my second grow of Space Dawg.
I ran 5 test plants in 2gal pots veg-ed till they were about 18" tall then flowered them.
They were topped once, they ended up about 3'-3.5' tall and yielded about 4oz each.
To me that was a decent yield out of test plants, all I was really trying to do was sex them for the next full run.
The bud were nice and rock hard big nugs.


This run they were veg-ed to just over 2' and trained to be much bushier.
Im expecting them to be around 4.5' at the end and around 6oz+ each.
Im thinking that its going to be more, just being a little conservative.
The smell is amazing has quickly become a fav of mine.
Cant go in the room without being drawn to them because of the fruity funk they are throwing off.
Literally they can be smelled over everything else in the room, not in a bad way just very unique and funky.

Yup that's LST.
I do a combo of LST, topping and loli-popping.
I LST and top then about 2wks before I flower I strip the lower 2/3 of growth off the plants.

Crit + is a good strain for new growers. It is a skunk and big bud cross which are just about the best strains for a new grower mixed into one.

You can grow one big plant in that area if you train it to grow horizontally. I would consider a screen or trellis and grow one or two plants while training the tops to fill the screen.

Prune the lower vegetation that will be shaded by the canopy. You wont get much penetration with CFL's to concentrate on the tops only.

I would also consider getting a T5 fixture. A 4 bulb 2' fixture would provide better coverage, probably be cooler and look a lot cleaner. You can swap out bulbs for different spectrums.

As far as a strain, I think any hybrid would work with training. I just finished C99 from Female Seeds and it is some of the best I have seen. ever. And it was done in 51 days. It was grown for about 2 months and flowered under a 600w HPS. The grow area was similar to yours except I had more vertical clearance. I didnt need it though, four plants were trained to stay about 3' each.

This strain is seriously ridiculous and was east to grow. I used dynagro products and fox farm's soil. I like to keep it as simple as I can.

T5's are just flourscent light bulbs. They are the thinnest and most efficient available. Think of them as a spiral CFL stretched out. CFL stands for Compact Fluorescent Lamp, a T5 is the same type of lamp just not "compact"

You can switch spectrums by switching bulbs. They are readily available at home improvement stores.

I dont like spiral CFL's because they waste a lot of light in their design. They also get hotter than a T5 or PLL lamp that can use a remote ballast.

I use the same florescent lights (PLL 55w) for my vegetative growth and for my cuttings. I put the cuttings off to the side of the room so they only get indirect light as they dont need much at all until they establish some roots.
