Best ph/ppm meter for soil

Just wondering what the best meter for both was for using soil. Or what you guys use!

bluelabs, digital pen meters with temperature reading.
and if u continue with soil later in invest in the soil pen probes for ph and ppm in soil.

I use the cheap 10 dollar yellow hanna copies from china. Work well. Calibrate once a month. Never off by more than .2, andthat was after 4 months of sitting in a box dry. replacement probes are cheap so when you notice it fucking up you can swap em out. Mine has been good for a year and not problems.

if your on a budget i would recommend those 10 dollar china hanna ones that budbro18 mentioned. but dont get the one with the powder solution and the a dial knob to calibrate to frustrating. and yes make sure it has replaceable probes.

No need for expensive meters when growing in soil. Soil isn't as sensitive and a good soil mix will resist any sudden changes in pH. If you have adequate dolomitic/garden lime in the mix you don't need to worry so much about the pH of what goes in. As for the soil\media pH itself, anywhere between 6 and 7 is just fine.

The liquid drops also work well. A cheap and potentially inaccurate meter might only cause more problems than it solves.

do you know you need to adjust the water temp with those cheap ones before you take a reading? if your not doing it the ph wont read correct.

Yes i do. I have a chart that says what the ph of calibration solution will be at different temps. Throw a thermometer in it before hand and its always a degree +/- the room temp which i have displayed by where i do my nute mixing/ph'ing.
